How to Understand Debenhams Men's Clothing Styles & Sizes
With the Debenhams up to 70% off Blue Cross Sale it is time to roll up your sleeves, trawl through the digital racks of clothes and update the man in your life. But with huge discounts on so many styles, do you know what makes the perfect fit? Here is our easy to understand guide of what the sizes and fits mean when you are looking at the labels
Shirts and Top Styles for Men
Regular – A more traditional cut and fit for most men. Your average guy will be wearing a regular fit allowing him comfort with a generous cut in the sleeves and the body. For a guy wanting to wear a slightly smarter look but not body confident you can find a range of shirts and formal jumpers that will fit nearly all body types for men.
Slim Fit – Not to be confused with fitted. The slim fit top is a tapered cut so it comes in slim at the hips but allows for broader shoulders. This type of cut can be incredibly flattering and are not just for your slimmer man. Think of it as slimmer fit than just slim fit.
Fitted Shirts – This cut is for the slim man in our life. The cut of the tops in the fitted range is that they are cut to be tight to the body. Shirts and tops with a fitted look are cut close to the body and offer a tapered silhouette – great with a skinny tie.
Athletic Fit – Is your man a rough rugby player, a gym fanatic or does he never miss arm day? The athletic fit is a great fit for guys with larger torsos and broader shoulders. The combination of wider sleeves for bulging biceps and shoulders, with a tapered slimmer waist to ensure that the wearer is not swamped but can accommodate his guns.
Jeans and Trousers – It’s all in the Leg Work
Skinny – Just like the ladies these trousers are skinny from ankle to hip. The old-fashioned drain pipes have been replaced with the skinny trouser. Think is my partner more Harry Styles than Prince Harry then he is probably wanting a pair of denim skinny jeans.
Slim – If your man is taller, leaner and slimmer he may feel more comfortable in a more fitted jean but still enjoy breathing. Slim fit trousers are the perfect choice with a slim cut and tapered leg without needing talcum powder to get in and out of them (Now think Chris Hemsworth).
Straight Leg – Also known as regular fit this is the jeans for your average man and probably the most readily available. These trousers fit every man no mater how tall or wide and will probably have the biggest selection of choice. Our top tip is if in doubt go for Debenhams with the regular fit in a light colour to add a new dimension to his look.
Loose or Relaxed – We would class these as skater or gangster styles. If his preference is a dropped waist, low slung trousers across hips and generally only in denim. These jeans can look very cool and relaxed. Ensure that you have also bought some great underwear, likely chances are you will be seeing them to.
Save on the Right Underwear with Debenhams Voucher Codes
From what our Debenhams bargain hunters have learnt underwear is personal preference. But when you are stood at the display and your man has explained what he likes but you can’t remember the name here is a few helpful hints
Briefs – Are pants, Y fronts, men's knickers. Whatever you would like to call it this underwear is either for boys or men with incredible bodies. These are a personal preference for sports boys and slimmer men as they tend to offer more support and a comfy fit around their bums.
Boxer Briefs – Let us paint a picture of David Beckham circa Calvin Klein, Matthew Lewis post Potter and Tyson Beckford’s whole career. When we talk about tighty whities this is the style that we mean. The big difference in boxer briefs is the leg cut is longer than briefs (like trunks) but cut to the shape of the hip (like briefs)
Boxer Trunks – Also known as a jockey finish or jockey shorts the Boxer brief is fuller underwear that are nice and snug and in our opinion flattering for nearly every male body shape. Unlike the Boxer briefs these shorts although fitted have a longer length in the leg with a square finish – very much the everyday modern underwear.
Boxers – Standard boxers are loose fitting and cheque (well the cheque is optional). For the gentleman that likes some freedom and breathing space these boxers are normally looser and more comfortable for day to day wear.
G-Strings, Thongs and Bikini – Let’s keep this simple these are the same for men as for women
