BLESMA Veterans Charity
Blesma has been helping veterans who have lost limbs in combat since the First World War. Registered as a national charity in 1932, they work to empower and promote the wellfare and wellbeing of all serving military personnel and veterans who have lost limbs or the use of limbs. Blesma takes a multi-faceted approach to supporting veterans, focused on activities, well-being, residential care and campaigning. A diverse programme of activities allows wounded service and ex-service personnel to enjoy activities which would never be possible otherwise, such as skydiving and skiing. A professional welfare service provides assistance on matters such as pensions, allowances, grants and NHS treatment options. The charity also runs a residential centre that provides care for those who needs it and just generally does a lot to improve the lives of the victims of war.
