Blind Veterans UK
Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 to provide support and assistance for veterans who lost their sight in the First World War. Today, the charity runs three centres in Brighton, Llandudno and Sheffield. They provide residential and respite care for blind veterans, as well as a network of volunteers supporting blind veterans in their own communities across the country. The charity's work focuses on empowering blind veterans to live independently where possible, providing them with the tools they need to be active, productive members of society and helping them to relearn life skills. Not just for veterans who lost their sight in the line of duty, Blind Veterans UK also works to help those that have lost their sight through accident, illness or old age. Donations allow workers and volunteers to continue providing care and support for individuals throughout their lives. Each centre run by Blind Veterans UK is in place to provide support for the veterans and their families. They specialise in helping a worthy cause as they give help in rehabilitation. This foundation offers a place that will provide recreation and training too, meaning during life-changing disability they still have the right support in place.
