5 Reasons Why Autumn is the Best Season
We may be full of the back to work/back to school blues, but when you think about it, autumn is the very best season of the year, hands down. No, seriously. We may all pretend to love the summer, but us Brits are all secretly wishing for an end to the hot weather, and not just because we can’t cope with temperatures higher than 20 degrees centigrade. Autumn isn’t just about kicking the leaves in the park, as fun as that is - it’s about home comforts, warming food and new clothes, all the best things in life we think you’ll agree…
Food and Drink
As soon as the summer weather begins, we all think ‘yay barbeques!’ Until about the third day straight when we remember that grilled meat and salad everyday can get a little boring, but the thought of tucking into a plate of bangers and bash when you’re dripping in sweat isn’t particularly exciting either. Well, now that’s September here’s our days of sweating are numbered and we can bring on all that delicious autumn food. Yes, we’re talking Sunday roasts, pie and chips, creamy soups, casseroles, stews and let’s not forget hot puddings drowned in lashings of custard. You may not have given that treacle sponge a second thought over the last couple of months, but we’re betting it might become a priority pretty quickly once the leaves start to fall
And it’s not just the autumn food that’s incoming. Drink, or rather wine, deserves a mention too. We’ve been quaffing chilled dry whites for a while now and quite frankly, we’re a bit sick of them. So bring on the full-bodied red wines, we say. And if you need some autumnal food and wine inspiration, we can heartily recommend Waitrose voucher codes to have it all covered.
TV
A new season marks a whole raft of new television shows, but why is autumn any different in this respect to, say, January? Well, because September TV schedules are home to three particularly autumnal treats that have just started or are imminent, namely The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor, and that’s not to mention all the comedy and drama that’s just about to begin over the next few weeks. So grab a sofa, curl up and enjoy.
Halloween and Bonfire Night
As soon as the schools go back, one of the first words uttered by nearly every child is ‘Halloween’, and these days is much more of a celebration than it ever was when we were young. So take the opportunity to start planning now if you want to make it a Halloween to remember - pick out those outfits, choose the best decorations and make sure you’re stocked up on treats before everywhere sells out. You can get everything you need for the spookiest of Halloween parties using Party Pieces promo codes, and let’s not forget Bonfire Night too. An excuse to drink hot chocolate? Bring it on.
Winter Coats and Boots
Let’s be honest, we’ve all been thinking about what winter gear to buy for a while now. Summer is all about being cool, but autumn is all about being stylish, and there’s no better way to show off your fashionista status that with a signature winter coat and matching boots. The autumnal offers have already begun, but there’s no better place to get your hands on a designer deal and choosing for an extensive collection than with Debenhams discount vouchers.
It’s Nearly…Dare We Say…Christmas?
We all know any mention of the C word throughout the summer months is banned, and that there are many that feel it completely unnecessary throughout September and October too. But we think it’s something to look forward too from the start of autumn onwards, and if you’re super organised, you might even want to start thinking about spreading the cost now…
So there you have it. All the reasons autumn is officially the best season and anyone who disagrees will have to come up with some VERY persuasive arguments for us to consider otherwise. Although torrential rain might be up there as quite a good one…
