6 Annoying Things We Always Forget About Winter
The problem with ever-changing seasons is that we’re constantly wishing away the one we’re in. In the height of sweaty summer, we long for an excuse to curl up in front of the TV on a cold evening, and as soon as it starts to get chilly, we want to be basking in the sunshine again. There’s nothing we do better in the UK than moaning about the weather, so let’s go with it and have a bit of a rant about all those not-so-cosy things we always forget about winter. And once that’s out of our system, we can get back to enjoying the season. Or dreaming about warmer temperatures…
1) De-Icing the Car
It’s bad enough that it’s too cold to even get out of bed at this time of year, but the icing (quite literally) on the top of the cake is when you’re already running late for work, you finally get out of the front door, and then you’re faced with a car windscreen that wouldn’t look out of place in an Antarctic snow storm. And if you haven’t had the forethought to invest in some de-icing spray then you face at least 20 minutes of chipping away at your frozen nemesis of a motor vehicle. Luckily you can stock up on everything you might need for a winter car care crisis using Micks Garage voucher codes, and you can also claim £5 off your next order when you sign up to their newsletter.
2) Winter Skincare Woes
The combination of toasty central heating in contrast to the icy temperatures outside can sometimes leave your skin feeling like it’s been through the mill a bit. Whether it’s excessive dry patches on your face, chapped lips or painful cracked skin on your hands, getting the balance right can be tricky. However, the summer isn’t exactly kind to skin either so we can’t really win. But worry not, because all year-round you can use Look Fantastic to save on premium skincare products that get the job done, and right now you can either get 18% off your order, or 20% off if you’re a first-time customer.
3) Using Your Phone with Gloves On
In short, you can’t. This wasn’t much of a problem ten years ago, but now we live in an era of constant screen swiping, taking our gloves on and off to do so is tiresome and doesn’t do much for the dry skin on your hands mentioned above.
4) Wet Feet
No matter what your winter footwear of choice, there’s always a tiny chink in the armour somewhere. Come the snow, or worse, freezing cold rain, and you begin to feel the water seep into your seemingly impenetrable boots or shoes which you will then take off when you get home, forget to dry out and then go to put on the next day. Fun times. But if you want to try and find that elusive pair of winter shoes or boots that will adequately protect your feet, then there’s no better place that our Office Shoes page where you can save up to 60% in their designer clearance section.
5) Tights
Just tights in general. Some people don’t have much a choice when it comes to wearing them in the colder months and we can only hope that one day someone will design a pair that you won’t have to keep pulling up all day long.
6) Hat Hair
We all think woolly hats are cute and cosy until we have to wear one, and then we remember that hats and intricate hairstyles don’t exactly go well together. And even if you don’t have an intricate hairstyle, or any hairstyle whatsoever, when you take off said hat, you must suffer the indignity of the condition known as ‘hat hair’ for the rest of the day.
Ok, so winter isn’t that bad - at least we can stay indoors and hide under blanket if needs be. And you can bet that as soon as spring comes around again, we’ll find something to moan about then too. Good old British weather…
