Lower-rated reviews more often referred to damaged large items, delayed delivery, refunds, disappearing stock and disputes involving opened-item returns. Voucher, clearance, Nectar or collection: which saves most?

Before using an Argos discount code, check the product page, postcode, collection options and delivery charge. One television, cookware range or Habitat product may qualify while a similar item does not.

Argos’ Nectar page says shoppers collect one point per £1 and 500 points are worth £2.50, a basic return of around 0.5%. Bonus offers improve the value, but I would not pay £20 more for the same laptop, LEGO set or appliance simply to collect points.

Clearance can beat available Argos voucher codes on end-of-line gaming products, toys, bedding and smaller electricals. The clearance pages may show labels such as “Lowest Price Ever”, but that describes Argos’ own price history. Another retailer can still be cheaper today.

Argos lets customers collect and spend Nectar points once the accounts are linked. Points can currently be spent from £2.50 up to £500 in £2.50 increments.

Does Argos Plus save money?

Argos Plus currently costs £40 for 12 months and covers eligible same-day, next-day and standard delivery on qualifying online orders of at least £20.

If a standard small-item delivery costs £4.95, nine paid deliveries would total £44.55. The membership begins to look worthwhile around that point. It is poor value for someone who usually collects or places only a few qualifying orders.

How to use Argos clearance and seasonal sales

Argos runs year-round clearance and larger events such as Black Friday, the Big Red Event and Christmas toy promotions. Record the price of a wanted TV, console, mattress or garden item beforehand so the sale badge is not doing all the thinking.
