What Do Cavendish Cancer Care Do?
At Cavendish Cancer Care, we provide emotional, physical and practical support for cancer patients, carers and families through one-to-one therapies including reiki, massage therapies, counselling and play therapies as well as a range of online groups and classes. Our support can help to alleviate the physical symptoms associated with a cancer diagnosis such as nausea, reducing anxiety and tension, and improving sleep and eating related issues. We also support families to better communicate and support each other through these difficult times.
How Does Cavendish Cancer Care Offer Help?
We pride ourselves on seeing the person, not the disease and tailor our care to the individual needs of each person to minimise the clinical feeling as experienced in hospital during their time at Cavendish. We operate on a self-referral basis with the aim to provide an initial assessment within 5 working days, with all treatment free of charge. Patients and families can access our support for as long and as often as they need to and can meet with our assessors to discuss their progress throughout their journey.
How Did COVID-19 Affect Cavendish Cancer Care?
The outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in the closure of our home, the Time Pryor Centre, and the transfer of all in-person services to remote delivery via telephone and video calls. The stress and anxiety from both a cancer diagnosis and uncertainty of the future was heightened by the fear and isolation surrounding the pandemic, thus it was essential that we were able to keep providing treatments to those who needed us. The easing of restrictions resulted in the development of our new hybrid model of care, with essential in-person therapies being delivered at the centre, while other sessions of therapy and support as well as groups and classes which were equally as effective via remote delivery remained online.
Why Do Cavendish Cancer Care Need Your Help?
With help from My Favourite Voucher Code’s, we will be able to provide support to even more families who need our help. With all therapies and support free of charge to those who need us, we at Cavendish cover the cost of therapist wages and building expenses. Despite the integration of our services within the NHS, less than 4% of our annual income is achieved through funding from the NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group, which only allows our doors to remain open for 2 weeks of the year. 96% of our income is achieved through trusts, grants and schemes such as My Favourite Voucher Codes and the generosity of our supporters. Every £27 provided by My Favourite Voucher Codes will fund a session of support for someone living with cancer.
