Help Transform Lives and Tackle Climate Change through Clean Energy with Renewable World
January 2026 sees four incredible new charities taking part in the charity poll right here at My Favourite Voucher Codes, all hoping to win this month's donation. The first worthy cause that you can vote for this month is Renewable World, the charity dedicated to saving the world and everyone in it. They help to empower communities around the globe through renewable energy, which helps people in poverty to access clean water, food, healthcare and much more whilst also reducing the effects of climate change. Find out more about Renewable World below and see if they get your vote to win 20% of our profits this month.

What Does Renewable World Do?
1.2 billion people are still living in poverty, inequality is rising, and the world is failing to decarbonise quickly enough to avoid climate disaster. The world’s poorest people contributed little to climate change, yet they are most impacted, and least able to adapt. This is not fair. And it is not sustainable.
Energy powers many of the day to day essentials that so many of us take for granted, from accessing clean water to being able to light our homes and develop agriculture. However, another challenge to overcome is the impact that the energy we use has on our planet.
Through our energy use, we are having a hugely detrimental effect on the world around us, with climate change rapidly altering our natural environment and further use of unsustainable energy undoubtedly leading to further environmental devastation. The world’s poorest people contributed little to climate change, yet they are most impacted, and least able to adapt. This is not fair. And it is not sustainable.
It is their mission to enable people living in poverty – especially those living in rural, off-grid communities ‒ to transform their lives by improving their access to clean energy, empowering them to develop sustainable and resilient livelihoods, and mitigating the impact of climate change.
They support communities in accessing energy and developing their businesses, food and water supply and homes, without adding to the growing environmental issues of unsustainable energy use. That’s why they deliver renewable energy-inspired projects (such as using solar power to lift water to remote hilltop communities) and work with a community centred model to help rural communities to access tools and renewable energies to help them live, grow and thrive.
They achieve this by working in partnership, piloting innovation, and delivering systemic, locally led projects. And they won’t rest until it is done. To date they have empowered over 200,000 people to transform their lives through clean, affordable, and reliable energy. And are on track to transform the lives of over 500,000 people by 2030.
What Communities has Renewable World Helped?
They work around the world in countries where rural communities are in need of renewable energy and resources to develop socially, agriculturally, economically and educationally. They have worked in a number of countries, helping to build community organisations and implement clean energy through installing renewable energy systems. Two countries where they have had a great impact on the local people are Nepal and Kenya.
More than 21 million people in Kenya and Nepal do not have access to energy. This can mean no access to clean water, quality healthcare, or the ability to earn a secure living. Many depend on natural resources which severely impacts local conservation efforts. And as habitats degrade and climate shocks increase, the most disadvantaged people become increasingly vulnerable.
Nepal: In 2012 they began working on community projects in Nepal, growing micro-economies in some of the most disadvantaged communities. Using solar and hydram technology, they were able to integrate water pumps so that everyone in the community could enjoy clean water, freeing up 3.2 hours every day for local girls and women who were having to travel to get water and bringing a 70% increase to their annual household income due to new farming opportunities. Through solar microgrids, Renewable World were also able to implement clean lighting and with biogas they created clean cooking.
Kenya: Since 2008 Renewable World has been supporting small scale energy projects all over Kenya. Kenya is ranked 142nd in the 2018 Human Development Index (HDI) and many communities suffer from extreme poverty. Renewable World has been able to help provide six remote communities, a total of 64 households and 1, 734 people, to access clean energy via community-owned solar microgrids which use energy from the sun to distribute clean electricity. They also established local community organisations who were trained to manage the microgrids and the new clean electricity.
Renewable World works with local partners to create clean energy solutions tailored to each community’s needs. These solutions provide essential energy and water — from pumping clean water to powering 24-hour health facilities. They work alongside communities as equal partners, building skills, tools, and local ownership for lasting change. They also help open access to fair markets and support conservation efforts that empower people to protect biodiversity. Empowered communities are central to the long-term success of all their projects.
What Have Renewable World Achieved?
Thanks to their work, since 2007:
- 219,833 people’s lives have been transformed through access to clean, affordable energy
- 70,078 people have improved livelihoods through clean energy
- 1,350 people are now implementing climate smart agriculture which both mitigates and adapts to climate change
- 100,404 people have benefitted by having access to healthcare powered by clean energy and 31,123 people have improved access to safe drinking water
The impact they have had on rural communities and on the planet is undeniable, and their approach empowers individuals to be able to utilise these renewable energies in a way which benefits their lives, their families and their communities.
