What Does Cyfannol Women’s Aid Do?

At Cyfannol Women’s Aid, their mission is to deliver across Gwent, a range of person-led and trauma-informed services to any person, particularly women or children, who have experienced any form of Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse, or Sexual Violence, regardless of their needs and the multiple disadvantages they face.

What Services do Cyfannol Women’s Aid Provide?

They achieve their mission by delivering a range of services that include:

• Accommodation (including a range of refuges and supported accommodation, some staffed 24 hours and move on properties)
• Community-based service
• Immediate support for emergencies via our drop-in hwbs
• Non-court and criminal court based Independent Sexual Violence Advisors
• Counselling and therapies   
• Group programmes   
• Peer-led interventions   
• Adolescent-perpetrated abuse interventions   
• Dedicated to providing women only spaces across Gwent 

They are a lived experienced informed charity; our services are co-produced with those accessing them, working with people to identify what meaningful engagement means to them as an individual. They take responsibility for removing the barriers to our services, constantly striving to be as accessible as possible.

What Impact has Cyfannol Women’s Aid had?

Cyfannol Women’s Aid has offered support for almost 50 years to many women and families, providing essential services to those experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence. They are committed to empowering individuals to live free from fear and abuse through tailored support, advocacy, and safe accommodation.

On average, they support between 2,500 - 3,000 people per year, ensuring they receive the help they need to rebuild their lives.

How Will The Donation Help Cyfannol Women’s Aid?

Your generous donations can help to provide essential items that ensure the safety and wellbeing of the women and families they support. Here’s what your contribution could fund:

• Personal Safety Equipment: Items like personal alarms, door security devices, recording equipment, and safety lighting can help individuals feel safer at home and in the community. This can cost an average of £73.14 per person.
• Non-Perishable Food Supply: Providing essential food supplies helps stock our drop-in Hwb, offering warm meals in a safe space. It also enables us to distribute food to those they support through our outreach project. Our no-cook food bundles cost around £15-£20 per person.
• Emergency Accommodation Support: Covering the costs of short-term stays in safe housing/hotels for those fleeing abuse can give them the freedom to leave. On average, it takes 5–7 attempts before individuals leave for good. A budget hotel for one-night costs between £40–£80 per night.
• Warm Clothing and Bedding: Ensuring individuals have access to coats, blankets, warm clothing and sleeping bags, toiletries and new underwear especially for those supported through outreach services. This can cost an average of £105.41 per person.
