Take a Look at EasyJet's New Hyrdogen Hybrid Planes
We're moving further into the future every day and the news that EasyJet are developing a hydrogen hybrid plane is very exciting. We're always hearing about how damaging CO2 emissions are and we know that cars and aeroplanes are two of the biggest culprits. We hear about how electronic cars are becoming more and more mainstream; many car parks have places for you to recharge your electric car and you see them on the road more and more often. But what about planes? We haven't really heard anything about a more environmental means of aeroplane travel... Until now.
What is EasyJet's New Creation?
EasyJet's new hydrogen hybrid aeroplanes are going to be a lot better for the environment. While they are still in the developmental stages, the new EasyJet planes (which they are working on in partnership with Carnfield University) stand to save 50,000 tonnes of CO2 every year; that's no small number! What the new planes will do is draw their energy from a hydrogen fuel cell during times when the plane is braking during landing; this energy can then be stored and used while the plane is taxiing. Don't worry if you don't really understand that, it basically is just a lot more eco-friendly than regular planes and that's all you need to know. I'm sure this will be very appealing to anybody who likes to keep their carbon footprint as small as possible! It's nice to see that EasyJet has taken the initiative to try and reduce their emissions and it is likely that we'll see more and more businesses doing this as time goes by. If these hydrogen hybrid plans catch on, in ten years time they may well be the most common form of long distance transportation.
How does this affect Customers?
But let's say that you're somebody who's not really convinced that humans are doing any substantial harm to the environment; why should somebody like you care about this new development from EasyJet? Well, the good news is that these hybrid hydrogen planes would actually be cheaper for passengers! The fact is, that this is a more economical form of energy too, which means that the planes would be cheaper to fly and the tickets would be cheaper to buy! So that certainly shines a rather positive light onto EasyJet!
