How to Find Your Ideal UK Staycation This September
In 2018 it has been predicted that more than half of us will take our annual holidays in the UK. Back in April, figures showed that 57% were planning to holiday on home shores in the summer, a 2% rise on 2017. And even more of us are planning to take short breaks too – a whopping 85% of us now have three domestic holidays a year. Basically, staycations are where it’s at and the nice weather hasn’t exactly hindered our love of the classic UK getaway.
Maybe you’ve already had your main summer holiday but are hankering after a September mini break. Or perhaps you’ve been hedging your bets and are waiting to get a great late summer deal. Whatever your reasons for booking a staycation in September, here are some top tips on how to get the best out of your UK holiday…
Staycation Weather Worries
Now, we may have had a better than average summer, but this is Britain after all. Nothing is guaranteed. So how do we get around this problem? Maybe you don’t care about the weather and are planning a nice cosy getaway. But if you DO want some sunshine, then heading south is you best bet as summer is pretty much over north of the Scottish border. Blue Chip Holidays have plenty of options across Cornwall, Devon, the Isle of Wight and Sussex as well as other southern counties, and their accommodation choices include self-catering cottages, lodges and even castles.
Last Minute Staycation Deals
You’ve already decided to go away in September and well done with that choice – avoiding the crowds, the noise and mostly importantly, the higher school holiday charges. But there are ways to get an even better deal. Booking in advance is all very well and good but at this time of year, those last minute deals really come into their own. If the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast is your destination of choice, then FBM Holidays specialise in self-catering holidays in this area and have pages of last minute deals with reduced prices. See what’s available over the next few weeks if you can be flexible with dates or put in your preferences and you might find a bargain that matches.
Discover a Different UK Holiday
If you’re considering a short September staycation, this is the ideal opportunity to step out of your holiday comfort zone. Rather than risking something new for your annual summer break, you could experiment with a different location or experience to see how you like it. For example, if you’ve never ventured out of the West Country when it comes to holidaying the UK, see what Suffolk or Kent have to offer. Or if you’re used to self-catering UK breaks, perhaps now is the time to dip your toes in different waters. Shearings Holidays specialise in coach holidays – prefect if you fancy having a proper break, as in everything being organised for you so you don’t have to lift a finger. Last minute deals they have coming up in September include mini breaks in Bournemouth and Weymouth and a tour of Emmerdale country in Yorkshire.
Planning Your UK Day Trips
And last but not least, if you’re going for a self-catering staycation make sure you have a few contingency plans for day trips, especially for those inevitable rainy days. Here on My Favourite Voucher Codes you can find discounts on experience days as well as entry to lots of different UK attractions – just search through our Tickets and Experience Day categories to see if there’s anything in your UK staycation region of choice.
Hopefully we’ve given you a good set of tools with which to find your ideal September staycation. There’s not much we can do about the weather unfortunately, so make sure you pack your suitcase for all eventualities!
