Support People with Mental Health Issues by Voting for Improving Lives

Improving Lives Notts is one of the four charities competing throughout the month of July for your votes to win a donation of 20% of profits from My Favourite Voucher Codes. We are proud to include Improving Lives in our charity poll this month, as this charity provide support for people struggling with mental health challenges, offering help in a number of ways from accessing counselling to support in learning new skills. What Does Improving Lives Do?

The charity which is based in Nottingham city centre supports local adults living with poor mental health whilst having to navigate other challenging issues impacting not only themselves but also their families such as risk of homelessness, long term physical health issues, battles with addiction as well as debt and financial insecurity.

What Support Does Improving Lives Offer?

Running since 2006 the charity provides 1-2-1 personalised support to address practical barriers to wellbeing, a comprehensive programme of social groups and activities to help combat loneliness as well as a befriending service to reach and stay connected with the most isolated city residents. In the past year the charity has worked with over 400 people who have been referred to the charity for extra support by secondary mental health services working in the community.

The 1-2-1 support offered by the charity can last for up to 12 months, allowing the support workers to often address and overcome many barriers during this time. The social activities which include things like arts and crafts, pool, walking, music, boat trips and theatre visits are open to anyone that has benefited from the charity’s services, and they can continue to and remain part of the Improving Lives community for as long as they wish to, some people have been regulars for nearly 10 years!
