Help the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming of Cats, Dogs and Small Animals with RSPCA Cornwall
This March, we have the incredible RSPCA Cornwall participating in this month's charity poll! An independently-funded branch of the RSPCA, RSPCA Cornwall has been helping animals in need for nearly 30 years. They take in cats, dogs and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, all in need of a loving home. Whether they have been subjected to neglect or abuse, have been found as a stray or their owner has been unable to continue caring for them, RSPCA Cornwall rescues animals in all situations and helps them find their forever homes. This March, you can help raise funds for RSPCA Cornwall by voting for them in the My Favourite Voucher Codes charity poll.
What Does RSPCA Cornwall Do?
RSPCA Cornwall is an independently funded branch of the RSPCA. There were previously 4 separate branches of the RSPCA around Cornwall, and in 1993 these branches came together to form the RSPCA Cornwall Branch and combine their resources. In 1996 their first Cornwall Branch centre opened, known as the Venton Animal Centre, and this centre has been essential for the rescue, care and rehoming of thousands of animals ever since.
RSPCA Cornwall takes in a variety of animals from a range of situations, including abandoned, neglected, abused and injured animals. This includes companion animals who have been taken away through investigations into animal cruelty. Therefore their team have experience in caring for and rehabilitating animals from all backgrounds who have a range of behavioural, physical and psychological problems, as well as caring for those who are ready to find their new home straight away. They take in animals of all ages, temperaments and behavioural or medical needs, giving them the help they need.
What Animals Do RSPCA Cornwall Rescue?
They have facilities for cats, dogs, small animals and birds, as well as a wildlife centre to temporarily house injured or unwell wildlife before they can be moved to a wildlife rehab centre.* They care for the animals in their centre in Cornwall, providing food, veterinary care, socialisation and everything else these rescued animals need to thrive. When they are ready, the animals in their care are then available to be adopted by a loving family who can provide the perfect forever home.
They are an independent charity, meaning that they are responsible for all of their own fundraising and any funds donated to RSPCA Cornwall goes to the Cornwall rehoming centre. They have 28 staff as well as a team of volunteers, and a host of facilities dedicated to helping animals in need. They have kennels and cattery pens for 42 dogs and 40 cats, small animal housing, and outdoor exercise paddock. They also have an aviary for wild birds, a compound for swan and geese recuperation* and of course expert veterinary care. Therefore, any funds raised for RSPCA Cornwall are invaluable to the team and the animals in their care.
If you support RSPCA Cornwall by voting in our March charity poll and/or through the other support methods outlined below, you can help hundreds of animals every year to live the life they deserve.
How Can I Foster or Adopt an Animal from RSPCA Cornwall?
Fostering: Fostering an animal is a great option if you want to help an animal find a forever home and are keen to care for an animal but may not be able to fully adopt. Foster homes provide care for rescue animals in their own home, whilst the animals await adoption. All costs are paid for by RSPCA Cornwall, including food and medical bills, and there are a variety of animals who are suitable for fosters. This is great for socialisation, and allows animals in need to get ready for their new home.
Adoption: If you want a new addition to the family in the form of a new four legged friend, then adoption could be for you. Adopting an animal is a big decision, and means that you will be responsible for the care of that animal for the rest of their lives. However, you can also transform the life of that animal as well as your own. RSPCA Cornwall will help you find the perfect match when it comes to your new companion animal, whether it’s a boisterous puppy who can match your energy and needs lots of one to one time or a more subdued older cat who would suit a quiet, relaxed household. Get in touch with their Adoption team if you think you could offer a rescue animal their forever home.
