When Was TenovUs Founded?

The charity was founded in 1943 by 10 local businessmen supporting a friend in need, hence ‘Ten of Us’, and they're older than the NHS! Over the years, Tenovus Cancer Care has grown and changed, but some things have remained constant as they continue to care about their community and are committed to being there for cancer patients when and where they need them most.

Their Mobile Support Units provide world class clinical space on the move. The units travel into communities and park up in places like supermarkets and community venues where the health care professionals on board can deliver the life-saving treatment.

How Did TenovUs Cancer Care Researchers Help Treating Cancer?

It was Tenovus Cancer Care researchers that helped to develop the most widely used breast cancer drug as in 1975 they showed that the drug Tamoxifen prevented the growth of breast cancer cells. Since then Tamoxifen has gone on to be the most successful and widely used breast cancer drug in the world, saving the lives of thousands of women. And their research didn’t stop there as they have funded millions of into cancer research for over five decades.
