3 Essential Make Up Items to Take You from Workout to Working It
We love a bit of Instagram. We love following the fashionistas and the healthy bods, but ever wonder how they stay so #InstaReady? How, they seem to be able to swank from the gym to brunch looking like they didn’t break a sweat? We have teamed up with Urban Decay at Debenhams who are not only offering 15% off but also have their top 3 “Born to Run” products. Athleisure wear is super-hot this year and you can’t walk down the high street without passing a big slogan vest top and slinky leggings in a geometric print walking past. Long gone are the days of leg warmers and leotards (they will come back, you wait now I said that).
Are You Born to Run with Urban Decay and Debenhams
The look doesn’t finish with “Gym, I thought you said gin” across your chest. The trick is to spruce your look up as you leave your workout. To ensure that you look fresh faced, cool and glowing from all those endorphins you have just created. We are in love with the Urban Decay “Born to Run” range. A range of make up specifically designed for girls on the go. Whether it be a girl that goes away every weekend, travels the world or simply needs to get from push ups to prinks. We have picked three items of make up you can add to your gym bag to ensure that you can be #InstaReady. More importantly we have collated top tips as to how you can ensure that you really do look like you barely broke a sweat even though you pushed it to the max.
Cool Down and Stretch
The biggest way to pull off that that “Cool, it was no biggie” look is to cool down both in temperature and stretches. You can’t start adding make up to a sweat pouring face and no foundation ever covers that delightful shade of cerise we all turn when we have worked hard.
Rehydrate – We know that it is important to drink plenty of water all the time but its also important to drink water before, during and after every work out. Once you have finished your workout rehydrating helps cool you down, lubricate your muscles and avoids issues like cramp. Drinking lots of water is also great for the skin all the time, so keeping up good habits will only help with your beauty regime.
Stretch – After a heavy workout we all want to collapse in a corner but its so important to stretch properly. It is very difficult to look ultra-cool when you look like the evolution of man getting out of a chair. Stretching after a workout helps reduce your heart rate, control your breathing and stretches muscles to break down lactic acid and waste products. It will also stop you from becoming light headed or dizzy, also not a good look. If you need a hand check out this quick 5-minute video you can do after every workout.
Pulse Points – A great way to reduce your body temperature is to run cold water over your wrists. Running water over pulse points is a quick way to help reduce your body temperature. Also, you can try the neck, behind your ears and if you can, pop your feet into cold water. Especially after long runs a bowl of cold water can do wonders for reducing the natural swelling in the feet.
Now Stretch Again – You can never stretch to much so just do a couple more, you will thank us in the morning.
Getting the Look Right with Urban Decay
You have cooled down, your pulse rate no longer sounds like a Phil Collins song and your breathing no longer resembles a horror film. It is important that you have a make up look like you can carry around in your gym bag, that will be quick and easy to apply and most importantly doesn’t cost the earth. Debenhams has paired with Urban Decay to offer for a limited time 15% off. If you are reading this later, please check our Debenhams page as we regularly host 15% off beauty Debenhams voucher codes.
Urban Decay - 'Born to Run' eye shadow palette
The eye-popping way to switch up a look and add a bit of sparkle to any make up look is through your eyeshadow. This pallet has 21 different shades of colour from your neutral browns to smoky blacks and sparkly greens (Wanderlust). All your eyeshadows are all in one place with this pallet.
We love that we can create the just got out of bed, natural look right up to ready to go clubbing sparkle from one pallet. You can match colour to your gym outfit, mood, occasion and what is best. You know that these colours are just going to stay in style for ever. Although this pallet will not when you realise how good it is.
Top Tip: If you want to get the most colour apply your eyeshadow with a cotton bud. Lightly wet a cotton bud and apply eyeshadow to your eyes to get an intense look, keep adding until you are happy.
Urban Decay - Limited edition 'Born to Run Vice' lipstick
Eyeshadow is the most dramatic way to change your look, but lipstick is the easiest. We talked earlier this week about using lipstick to dramatize your look. From Urban Decay we choose No 3 to keep with this year’s purple colours and we thought the most dramatic (its also this writers fav colour).
If purple is a bit much for you be sure to check out there No1 which is a neutral and a look for tanned skin or a great mid-point is no 2 with the pinker colour.
Top Tip: Layer up your lipstick for more or less drama. A light brushing of any of the lipsticks will add a touch of colour and a finished off look. If you want a real impact then add more depth to your colour with an extra layer or layers.
Urban Decay - 'Born to Run' 24/7 pencil eyeliner
Make the ultimate statement by lining those eyes with a bit of colour. If you aren't much of an eyeshadow girl or maybe you prefer a much simpler look then a coloured eyeliner is a great alternative. An eye liner is also a great budget friendly option at only just over £13 with our 15% off, it will last forever.
The great things with the green or bronze choices are that they will suit all eye colours from dazzling blue to sultry brown, not to mention a mesmerising green in the middle.
Top Tip: Balance the amount of colour for the amount of drama. Use as a thin line around the whole eye for a subtle but eye-catching look. Alternately give yourself a big bold line across your top eyelid into the crease of your eye for a bigger pop of colour
Our Final Money Saving Word on the Matter
If your gym bag has room why not swap your sports bra and sweaty top for a standard bra and a fresh vest top for ultimate coolness. A quick wash off at the sinks a fresh top, a brush of colour across your face and you can step straight from Working Out to Working It.
We wouldn’t be My Favourite Voucher Codes if we didn’t suggest that you check out Debenhams regular and amazing sales. Nothing better than matching your hot “On the Run” look with some new leggings. Ensure you keep an eye on our page for all the latest bargains.
