Vote for Andy’s Man Club: Supporting Men Through Life’s Storms
We are very proud to be able to promote some incredible charities in our charity poll, and to be able to donate 20% of our profits to charity each month. This January, we are very delighted to have Andy’s Man Club in our January Charity Poll!
Andy’s Man Club is one of the four charities participating in our poll this month and we are very glad to see them on board. Their mission and how the charity came about is inspirational, and they have remained strictly to what it set out to achieve. They are all about the mental health of men and their work is life saving, as they provide men with a safe and inviting place to discuss openly, that is, without fear, the storms they are handling. And, frankly, that type of space is even more significant than ever throughout the UK at the present moment.
Find out more about their work and see how you can support Andy’s Man Club this January, starting off the new year helping a charity in need.

What Is Andy’s Man Club?
Andy’s Man Club is a mental health charity that runs free, peer-to-peer support groups for men aged 18 and over. The groups meet every Monday at 7pm, except on bank holidays, and there’s no cost, no forms, no sign-up process at all. You just turn up. That open-door setup matters, because it means support is there when someone needs it, not weeks later and not after jumping through hoops, but just there, in the moment.
The Story Behind Andy’s Man Club
Andy’s Man Club was founded following the tragic death by suicide of Andy Roberts in 2016. Andy showed no outward signs to his family that he was struggling. It came as a great shock to those who knew him, a reality that reflects the silent battles many men experience. In the aftermath of this loss, Andy’s brother-in-law Luke Ambler and his mother Elaine Roberts were determined to help other men in similar situations. Their goal was to ensure that other men would have a space to speak openly before reaching crisis point. It was with this that Andy’s Men Club was born; out of a tragic loss and a determination to see more avenues for men in need to seek support.
The aim of this incredible charity was clear: to create an environment where men who found it difficult to open up could feel safe, supported, and understood. That determination led to the creation of the first Andy’s Man Club session in Halifax in 2016, where just nine men gathered in a room to talk honestly about their lives.
That first session set the template that remains in place today at their sessions; a peer-led, non-clinical, judgment-free model centred on conversation, empathy, and shared experience.
From One Room to a Nationwide Movement
Since that initial meeting in Halifax, Andy’s Man Club has had huge growth. What began with nine men has expanded into hundreds of locations nationwide, and now there are groups that meet from Plymouth to Aberdeen. Despite this scale, the charity has remained true to its original values and format, ensuring consistency and familiarity across every group.
Each session follows the same simple structure established on that very first night in 2016. This consistency is key, men know exactly what to expect when they walk through the door. That sense of predictability helps foster trust, openness, and community.
Today, Andy’s Man Club supports thousands of men every week, helping them realise they are not alone and that others understand what they are going through.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Andy’s Man Club recognised that not every man is able to attend a physical location. In response, the charity introduced online sessions via Google Meet, which follow the same peer-to-peer model as in-person groups.
Looking ahead, the charity’s long-term ambition is to have a physical location within 30 minutes’ travel of every man in the UK, a goal that reflects both the scale of the problem and the organisation’s commitment to being part of the solution.
Why Andy’s Man Club Matters
Men are less likely to seek help for mental health struggles. This is often due to stigma, societal expectations, or fear of appearing vulnerable. Andy’s Man Club challenges these norms head-on by reframing talking as an act of strength rather than weakness.
By providing relaxed, peer-led spaces without clinical pressure or formality, the charity helps men feel comfortable opening up, sometimes for the very first time. For many attendees, Andy’s Man Club becomes a constant source of support, connection, and hope during difficult periods of their lives.
