Action for Children
When you help Action for Children, you are helping disenfranchised young people get back their childhood. This important charity has being providing support to those in need for 145 years, dating back to when the founder, Thomas Bowman Stephenson, took time out to help homeless children sheltering under the arches of Waterloo Station. Since then, Action for Children has made a huge contribution to the lives of babies and parents-to-be, disabled children and their families, young carers, and vulnerable young people who may face neglect, social isolation and violence in their everyday lives. This year alone, the work done by this charitable organisation has ensured that 97% of the young people they’ve helped have remained in education, training or employment after the age of 16, that 96% now have a reduced risk of physical sexual or emotional abuse, and 97% with complex health needs have sustained maximum independence. Action for Children works across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland to identify those in need and continue this important and vital work for young people.
