Bowel & Cancer Research is the leading authority on research into all forms of bowel disease. Funding scientific research into these conditions, their goal is for a day where no one dies from bowel cancer or has to live with chronic bowel disease.

What Do Bowel & Cancer Research Do?

Formed in the 1990s by colorectal surgeon Professor Normal Williams, Bowel & Cancer Research funds studies that will help better diagnose and treat bowel cancer and other forms of bowel disease. They also work to educate the public on the taboos around these conditions, as well as providing support for those people living with them.

While over 90% of people survive bowel cancer when caught early, for those who are diagnosed at the very latest stage, this falls to 6%. chronic bowel conditions are also more common than most people realise, with hundreds and thousands of people living with conditions such as Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and IBS. It’s for these reasons that Bowel & Cancer Research fund some of the best science in the UK, where research goes into better ways to diagnose and treat these diseases. The charity also aims to develop new generations of experts into medical research with the help of their PhD Studentship Programme.

People and Research Together (PaRT)

Bowel & Cancer Research believe that involving the public with their research enables it to strive, which is why the People and Research Together (PaRT) programme exists. This is a nationwide network of people who share an interest in bowel disease and are willing to get involved with research studies. From people with experiences of bowel conditions to members of the public, the ultimate goal is to improve research into these diseases.
