About Brain Tumour Research Campaign
Brain Tumour Research Campaign is a charity in the UK with a purpose to not only bring together research scientists and expert clinicians with brain tumour patients but also to help find a cure for this awful disease. Unfortunately even today, brain tumour research is agonizingly underfunded, making it much more difficult for scientists and other dedicated individuals to find a cure. Brain Tumour Research Campaign are not only working to raise awareness of this disease which is also the biggest cancer killer of children, but also to raise funds, so research and better more effective treatment can take place for those in need.
What Has the Brain Tumour Research Campaign Achieved So Far?
Since 2004 when the organisation has been established, they have had some fantastic achievements to get us a step closer to finding more effective treatments for brain tumours. Just 4 Months after they have been established, the charity has created a brain tumour tissue bank, and a year later they have created the Imperial College brain tumour registry. Then, in 2009 they launched the John Fulcher Lab at Charing Cross Hospital and have been rapidly expanding the lab the following years as well as creating the George Pickard PhD Fellowship, Corrado Gassini Fellowship and the launch of the Magic Wand Appeal. Almost 10 years later, in 2015, they launched the Imperial College Brain Tumour Research Centreof Excellence was established, and they have been expanding their research and facilities ever since. Their latest study has been launched at Charing Cross Hospital which is studying non-invasive optical analysis in neurosurgery which is due to finish in 2022 November.
How Do Brain Tumour Research Campaign Help?
Patients: Brain tumour patients are able to access premium quality therapeutic and diagnostic facilities, they are experiencing an improved quantity and quality of patient survival rates and every day, patients have a much better understanding on how the disease has an impact on their bodies.
Collaborators: Collaborators are seeing an increase in not only the progress of the research and positive results, but also an increase in individuals who are willing to support and a positive result for research bodies.
Scientists and Clinicians: Those dedicated to making a difference in finding a more effective treatment for brain tumours have a career path supported, and are able to work with more advanced facilities as a result to bring the most out of their research and the treatment of patients.
