Help Raise Money for Glasgow Disability Alliance
The Glasgow Disability Alliance, is a Scottish charity which provides disabled people with free and easily accessible workshops and events; supporting them in their working and personal lives, through emotional support, creative opportunities and educational classes. Their classes offer lessons on a range of skills from technology to dance, with a selection of fun and engaging social events to meet others with disabilities. The social events and workshops also give them the chance to have their voices heard and tell their stories, helping to fight stigma around a range of disabilities.
This unique charity is not only there to support those with disabilities, but it also run by disabled people, whom through personal experience can help provide a service which is not only practically helpful but is also able to engage people with a variety of social and physical difficulties. Over 3500 members now take part in their broad range of activities and events, from their practical cooking classes and learning festivals, to their awareness events such as the #UsToo campaign which seeks to bring disabled people together and right stigma and negativity. Giving disabled people a voice in the community is also a huge part of what they do, commenting on recent social and political issues and engaging with members to see how it affects disabled people not just in Scotland but all over the UK.
