Help SpecialEffect to Enhance the Life of Those With Disabilites by Giving Them a Vote This January
SpecialEffect is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all people with disabilities, no matter how severe. They enable them to operate computers in any way possible to enhance their quality of life, using cutting edge technology. This has huge benefits in terms of rehabilitation, vital inclusion and much-needed fun. They visit many individuals in their homes, hospice and hospitals and welcome them to our fully accessible Games Room in Oxfordshire.
Almost always, the people they help are, in effect, trapped in their own bodies. Their minds are active but their bodies won’t allow them to do what most of us take for granted. In many cases their health is so fragile they’re unable to go out. Some are bedbound. They might never be able to join in as actively as their peers. But SpecialEffect can give the next best thing - the use of a computer to be able to play games together or independently. To create music and artwork. To aid education and even to communicate.
SpecialEffect specialise in Eye Control Technology.
Imagine: You wake up after an accident or a stroke.
Or you have a progressive illness.
You’re completely paralysed. And you can’t speak.
That’s when SpecialEffect will help.
Through the simple act of eye-movement, they can help people to operate computers for communication, education, independence, leisure and work. In this way, they can join in with family and friends, often for the very first time. They will no longer be just watching from the sidelines. They will actually be included. This can have a profoundly positive impact on mental wellbeing and self-esteem. It helps people get the most out of life as they possibly can.
All of this is done free of charge to those that SpecialEffect support. They rely solely on fundraising and receive no statutory funding.
SpecialEffect will be taking part in the January 2019 charity poll with My Favourite Voucher Codes. This vital funding will really help them to support those with disabilities. So make sure to cast your vote this January.
