Support Theodora Children's Charity to Give More Laughter and Smiles

Theodora Children’s Charity believe that laughter really is the best medicine. They send trained performers, known as Giggle Doctors, into hospitals, hospices and specialist care centres. They help bring some light- hearted fun to the children who need it the most. And they could really do with some support in this months charity poll.

Giggle Doctors combine music, play, magic and storytelling to bring magical moments to over 33,000 sick and disabled children each year. They visit children aged 0-18 who have a wide range of illnesses and disabilities. With a staggering 1 in 20 children treated in hospital per year, Giggle Doctors play a vital role in improving a child’s experience of hospital. A time of pain and discomfort can be transformed into a time of fun and laughter thanks to Theodora's Giggle Doctors.

Wearing their very own white ‘doctor’ coats, which represent their character, a Giggle Doctor spends time one to one with the children. They engage with the children, encourage laughter and act as a welcome distraction to their circumstances.They help create opportunities for the children to play and interact with one another through a range of musical, magical and fun activities. Sometimes they will make balloon animals and blow bubbles and at other times they will sing a funny song. They are more than happy to speak to a child one on one about anything they want.

As a small UK charity, Theodora Children’s Charity rely on donations to brighten the lives of thousands of children. It costs £10 to fund one Giggle Doctor visit to a child. That £10 can completely transform a child's day from one of hospitalised discomfort to one of laughter and fun.
