Supporting The Bowley Charity
The Bowley charity was set up by Ethel Bowley in 1951 to help disadvantaged children of up to 16 years old – or 18 if in education - to have access to the necessities in life such as food, clothing, cookers, refrigerators, beds, furniture etc. They work with children who live in the Hertfordshire districts of Watford and Three Rivers, offering grants to improve the lives of disadvantaged families, and ensure they are safe and comfortable in their home.
Over the years they have helped families living in poverty to be safe and secure in their homes, including a 16 year old who could not live at home whom they assisted by providing bedding and a microwave oven so he could live comfortably, a single mother with six children whom they gave a new washing machine to when hers broke down, and a family who was fleeing from domestic abuse who were helped with buying children’s beds.
They are a small charity located in Hertfordshire, with six voluntary trustees who work with Hertfordshire County Council to offer help to families in need. They have recently sought donations in order to increase funds and be able to help more families. Voting for The Bowley Charity in our charity poll will make a big difference to their work and have a great impact on many disadvantaged children and families.
