Vote for The Urology Foundation and Show Your Support for Urology Awareness Month This September
The Urology Foundation have been fighting urological disease for nearly 25 years. As the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to all urology problems and diseases, their ultimate goal is to end the deaths and suffering that are caused by these conditions.
What is a Urological Disease & How Do The Urology Foundation Help?
Urological diseases are related to the urinary system in men and women, as well as the male reproductive system. This includes cancers of the kidneys, bladder, prostate and testicles. It also covers conditions such as erectile dysfunction, kidney failure, and male infertility. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and urinary incontinence are also classed as a form of urological disease.
Prevention: Education & Raising Awareness
The Urology Foundation believe that prevention is one of the best ways to put a stop to urological disease. They’re committed to raising awareness of these conditions, through providing information on all aspects of urology health. This covers everything from bladder cancer to urinary tract infections. Knowing the main signs and symptoms of serious conditions means that patients can easily spot them and visit their doctor sooner to seek treatment. In addition, raising awareness of these conditions will help to reduce the stigma surrounding them, meaning more people will be encouraged to visit their GP.
Treatment: Improving Patient Care with Support for Medical Professionals
The Urology Foundation is also committed to providing patients with the most advanced treatments for their conditions. One of the most recent techniques to be used is the groundbreaking robotic surgery. They also strive to educate medical professionals in hospitals over the UK, while providing support to urologists so that they in turn can provide the best care to their patients. The funding they receive allows them to do this by offering educational courses, training programmes and research grants in order to allow medical professionals to expand on their skills.
Cure: Research Into Lifesaving Treatments
The Urology Foundation supports a top team of researchers, who are working towards a cure for urological cancers and diseases, along with better treatments for patients. They aim to share these findings with as many medical professions as possible, so that more lives can be saved and transformed.
How You Can Get Involved
The Urology Foundation receives no government funding. This means they rely entirely on donations to carry out their crucial research and education. Through fundraising, their aim is to put a stop to the suffering that urological diseases cause, and every penny they make goes towards this.
