Family Action Charity Bio
Family Action is a national charity supporting the most vulnerable children and families. We believe in building stronger families, giving each member the support and opportunity they need to thrive. Each year we work with over 45,000 families through over 145 community based services, giving families facing crisis somewhere to turn.
The services we provide span all sections of the community, and support in many different ways. From providing new mothers at risk of postnatal depression with the chance to meet other mothers facing the same issues, and reduce the social isolation they’re experiencing, to giving families affected by domestic abuse the financial support they need to make a fresh start.
Founded in 1869, we’ve been at the forefront of social welfare and support for almost 150 years and we continue to tackle the most pressing issues facing UK society today, such as poverty, inequality, mental ill health, and helping people rebuild their lives after emotional trauma. In an ever changing landscape of welfare and funding cuts, the work Family Action does is crucial to maintaining the health and wellbeing of our families and communities.
While the problems they face are often similar, every family is unique. This is key to the support we offer, and no two of our services are the same. Each one is highly connected to the community it serves, working with local agencies such as social services, schools, and health workers ensuring local families get the best support possible.
For families across the country, Family Action has helped them tackle the problems they face head-on and given them the tools to build a better and stronger future. Our vision is that everyone who comes to us, children, adults, and families, will receive the help they need to tackle their problems, no matter what they face, from abuse or social isolation, to disadvantage and poverty.
