June 2020 Charity Poll Lineup: Meet Our Four Charities Taking Part This Month!
While we were all hoping that things would have returned to some degree of normality by the time we brought your our June charity poll, unfortunately we still have a bit longer to go. However, the My Favourite Voucher Codes team are still working hard to bring you the very best bargains as well as raising money for some very well deserving causes. We’re pleased to announce the winners of May’s charity poll are ME Research UK, who came first with 58% of the votes! Thank you to every single one of our users who voted and shopped with us during these difficult times, and thank you to all four of our May charities for taking part. In September, we’ll be announcing the final donation amount you lovely lot have helped us to raise, so keep your eyes peeled!
That’s not the only bit of good news either! Earlier this month we announced how much we raised for Horseworld, who were the winners of our poll back in January. Thanks to our amazing users, we were able to donate £148.92! This will go towards the rescue and rehabilitation of mistreated and neglected horses. Thank you so much to everyone who helped us make this donation possible, and as always, please continue shopping with us to ensure we can help even more good causes like Horseworld!
Our June Charity Poll
It’s hard to believe that we’re now halfway through the year, and of course a new month brings with it a new lineup for our charity poll. Read on to find out which organisations we’re supporting for June!
Blackpool Carers Centre
The 8th to 14th of June is Carers Week, so we are delighted to be supporting Blackpool Carers Centre! The charity provide support to unpaid carers - some of which are as young as 5 - who look after a family member due to illness, disability, or mental ill health. They provide respite sessions tailored to carers and their families, giving them a well needed break and a chance to meet with other people who are in similar situations. In addition, they provide support around benefits, ensuring carers and their families get the financial support they need. They also offer specialist support around mental health, substance misuse and dementia for those who need it.
Breaking Barriers
Next up, we have Breaking Barriers. This charity supports refugees in London by providing education and employment support, enabling them to find meaningful and fulfilling jobs. Employment and integration advisers can help clients with CVs, applying for jobs and interview prep, while education programmes allow clients to develop the skills they need in order to help them secure long term employment. The charity also works with businesses to provide work experience placements for their clients as well as permanent job opportunities. Ultimately, their employment support allows refugees to thrive here in the UK.
HEART UK
Our next charity for June is HEART UK. As the UK’s only cholesterol charity, HEART UK are on a mission to prevent early deaths and disease as a result of cholesterol related conditions. They provide support to patients, their families, and to health professionals in order to educate and raise awareness. In addition, they are able to offer support to people who have lost loved ones as a result of these conditions. HEART UK also fund research into preventing heart attacks and strokes caused by high cholesterol while providing specialist training for health professionals too. They also run regular campaigns to support patients and health professionals, working towards improved diagnosis, care and treatment, as well as raising awareness.
SPANA
Finally, completing our lineup, we have SPANA. Since 1923, the charity has looked out for the welfare of working animals in some of the world’s poorest countries. Animals such as donkeys, camels and horses are often the economical backbone for these countries and for many people, their livelihood relies on them. Despite this, these animals are unable to get access to basic veterinary care, and often the smallest injuries can be fatal. SPANA offer free veterinary care within these countries with the help of mobile clinics which offer treatments, vaccinations and replacement equipment. In addition, they provide basic animal welfare training to owners so that basic injuries can be prevented and treated. The charity also offer education sessions within communities to help demonstrate the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect.
