The Sea Cadets
The Sea Cadets is a charitable organisation that runs largely on the funding that it raises itself. Their staff are committed to continuing to provide the facilities and opportunities that we have always been able to offer the cadets and we hope that with your support The Sea Cadets can continue the excellent work that our cadets do and keep the unit running. The cadets also participate in many worthwhile community events, helping with other charitable organisation fundraising events etc. such as local carnivals, youth days, SSAFA fundraising events, Prospect fundraising events , Lions Christmas parades, Christmas entertainment for the elderly in care, Amnesty International (Lanterns on the Lake), and of course Veteran remembrance services. They receive the highest praise from everyone who comes into contact with The Sea Cadets. They are naturally very proud of their achievements and the manner in which they conduct themselves when on duty. All of the The Sea Cadets staff are volunteers who give up significant amounts of their spare time to keep the unit running and provide the cadets with a wide range of activities from classroom instruction in seamanship, communications, marine engineering, catering and drill (among other things) through to outdoor pursuits including sailing, kayaking, expedition training and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. The Sea Cadets place a strong emphasis on having some fun whilst learning new skills and developing the cadets’ sense of personal values. All of The Sea Cadets activities are based on the best traditions of the Royal Navy and they give the cadets many opportunities to interact with the Royal Navy and participate in many waterborne activities.
