Now that the sun is out (just about), it can get you thinking about summer cuisine and its various accompaniments. Yes, our very favourite summer side dish is none other than that retro classic, Greek Salad. If you’ve be eyeing up the feta cheese in recent supermarket sojourns, follow our simple instructions on how to make the perfect one…
What Ingredients will You Need for a Greek Salad?
The basic salad ingredients are as follows:
½ cucumber, diced into medium chunks
Small Romaine Lettuce
Green Pepper
3-4 large vine tomatoes, cut into sections
200g Feta cheese, diced or crumbled
335g jar of Greek Kalamata olives, drained and rinsed
½ red onion, thinly sliced
Greek Salad Dressing Ingredients
1 tablespoon Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Red Wine Vinegar
Lemon Juice
Dijon Mustard
Honey
Garlic
Salt and pepper
How to prepare the Perfect Greek Salad
Combine all the salad ingredients together in a large bowl. To create the dressing just mix the red wine vinegar, mustard, garlic, honey, lemon juice, olive oil and seasoning together in a small bowl to create a tasty Greek salad dressing. Drizzle the salad dressing over the top of the salad ingredients and then lightly toss and serve – it really is that easy!
This works well as side dish for so many summer dishes – chargrilled steak, shish kebabs, barbecued chicken and baked fish to name but a few. However, it is also fabulous as a light lunch or supper on its own. To give it an even more continental feel, why not pick out the perfect wine to accompany it?
