Christmas may still feel some way off, but the first predictions for 2026 are already here. John Lewis has picked ten toys it expects to be popular, ranging from a £14.99 collectable doll to a £299.95 Paddington house.

This is John Lewis’s prediction rather than an industry-wide ranking, and the toys are presented in price order. We have compared exact versions wherever possible, including the products available from Amazon and other UK retailers.

1. Momiji Sugar Plum Wood Message Doll – £14.99

Each wooden doll comes in a blind box and contains a small compartment for a handwritten message. The exact doll is listed at John Lewis for £14.99 and marked as coming soon. Momiji is taking pre-orders at the same price, with a complete set of eight listed at £119.90. We did not find the exact doll on Amazon UK.

2. John Lewis Wooden Breakfast in Bed Set – £24

This wooden role-play set is intended for children aged two and over. As a John Lewis own-brand toy, John Lewis is the only confirmed retailer. The announced price is £24, although it is worth checking the final amount when ordering opens.

3. KPop Demon Hunters Rumi Singing Doll – from £34.99

Rumi is the most widely listed toy in the top ten. Checking for product code JRN40 can help you avoid similarly named dolls.

• Available when checked: Very at £34.99, Littlewoods at £39.99 and Kerrison Toys at £34.99. Kerrison showed one remaining.
• Listed or coming soon: John Lewis at £34.99, Argos at £35 and Smyths Toys at £34.99. Argos was unavailable when checked.
• Other options: Amazon has the exact listing, but no featured offer was available. JAC Stores listed it at £34.99; mainland shoppers should check delivery availability.

Before ordering, check the latest Argos voucher codes, Smyths Toys voucher codes and Amazon voucher codes. New releases may be excluded, so always confirm the saving in your basket.

4. Marvin’s Magic Treasured Tricks Wooden Set – from £24.95

This is where the biggest confirmed saving can be found. Temptation Gifts and Gifts Kids Want both listed the set at £24.95, which is £15.04 below the £39.99 John Lewis price. The two shops may use connected stock, so availability could change at the same time.

Marvin’s Magic listed it at £34.99 but was sold out, while Kings Juggler had an unavailable £29.99 listing. Amazon also has a Treasured Tricks listing, although its age guidance and product information should be compared carefully with the John Lewis version.

5. Mon Ami Colette Duck Soft Toy – £40

John Lewis lists Colette Duck at £40 and marks it as coming soon. The Mon Ami UK retail launch is exclusive to John Lewis, so other Mon Ami ducks found on Amazon and elsewhere are not the same toy.

6. Connetix Ball Run Launcher Pack, 47 pieces – from £44.95

The exact pack was available from Scandiborn, PlayFaire and Isaac’s Treasures for £44.95. John Lewis and Amazon listed it at £45.

The 5p difference is less important than delivery or collection. Check the final total rather than choosing a specialist retailer on price alone.

7. Plus-Plus Learn to Build Space Superset, 1,000 pieces – £49.99

John Lewis had this 1,000-piece construction set in stock at £49.99. BrightMinds has an exact £49.99 listing, but it was sold out. The Plus-Plus European shop lists it for €49.99, although UK delivery and the final sterling cost need checking.

John Lewis recommends the set for ages five and over, while Plus-Plus says seven and over. Follow the safety guidance shown on the packaging.

8. LEGO Icons Holiday Express Train 10361 – £109.99

This 956-piece adult display set is exclusive to John Lewis and the official LEGO Shop. Both listed it at £109.99. John Lewis had stock, while LEGO showed it on back-order when checked. There was no exact Amazon listing.

It is worth checking the latest LEGO voucher codes and offers, although new sets are commonly excluded from percentage discounts.

9. Mini Micro Eco Gruffalo Foldable LED Scooter – £116.95

John Lewis lists the cream-and-green foldable scooter at £116.95 and marks it as coming soon. Micro Scooters sells other Gruffalo scooters and a plain green foldable Eco model for £106.95, but neither is the exact John Lewis version.

10. Le Toy Van Paddington Doll’s House – £299.95

John Lewis and Le Toy Van both list the house at £299.95 and mark it as coming soon. The house includes a Paddington figure, but not the furniture or Brown family.

The matching furniture set costs £69.95, so a fully furnished house will cost considerably more than the headline price.

Four ways to spend less

• Compare the delivered price. A lower product price can be wiped out by postage.
• Match the exact model. Check the product code, colour, piece count and included accessories.
• Check voucher exclusions. New releases, LEGO and selected toy brands may not qualify.
• Be careful with marketplaces. Check the seller, returns policy, delivery date and packaging condition.

The best choices by budget

• Under £25: Momiji costs £14.99, while the John Lewis breakfast set is expected to cost £24. Marvin’s Magic also falls below £25 at its cheapest retailers.
• £25 to £50: Rumi, Colette Duck, Connetix and Plus-Plus provide a choice between character, soft-toy and construction play.
• Over £100: LEGO suits adult collectors, the Gruffalo scooter is for younger children and the Paddington house is the big-ticket centrepiece.

Our verdict

The strongest price competition is on Rumi, Marvin’s Magic and Connetix. For the exclusive toys, free delivery, collection and rewards may offer more value than waiting for a large price reduction.
