Cast a Vote For The Listening Place This July in the MFVC Poll
Who Are The Listening Place?
The Listening Place provides face-to-face, non-judgemental and confidential support to people who feel life is no longer worth living. Visitors to The Listening Place receive support through free fortnightly appointments with one of our highly-trained volunteers at one of our three London sites, for as long as it takes to reduce their suicidal feelings. They are currently supporting 1,200 suicidal people on an ongoing basis and aim to support over 5,000 people this year.
Where Does My Donation Go?
Every £250 donated to The Listening Place will fund support for someone who is feeling suicidal for as long as they need, and just over £30 will allow someone to access an initial assessment, giving them what might be their first ever experience of being listened to during their darkest times. They also know that their support works, with their visitors reporting a highly-significant reduction in their suicidal feelings after three and six months of appointments.
How Can I Support The Listening Place?
There are multiple ways you can support this fantastic cause. The quickest and easiest way is to cast a vote in the July's charity poll which you can find on the right hand side of the page.
Donate
The charity also welcome donations, and just a couple of pounds will help them help those who are feeling that life is no longer worth living. They have multiple donation options on their website, including a monthly payment of £3 which will fund 1 face-to-face appointment for someone who is feeling suicidal. £10 per month will help the charity provide 4 face-to-face appointments for individuals suffering with suicidal thoughts and £21 per month will provide 9 appointments, the average time it takes for a Visitor’s suicidal feelings to reduce.
Fundraise
You are also welcome to set up your own fundraiser for The Listening Place, and raise money for them through activities such as quizzes, a bake sale, mural painting or a marathon, helping them to continue their support of suicidal people.
