What Does Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary Do?

WWS was founded in 2009 and has grown to become one of the largest rescue centres in the North East of England. Rescuing over 3000 injured, orphaned and sick wildlife every year, taking between 11,000 and 13,000 rescue calls every year, and run by a team of 200 volunteers. Their aim is to release wildlife back to the wild where they belong after successful rehabilitation.

What Services do Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary Provide?

They provide a rescue and rehabilitation service for wildlife in need of help. Specialised care work for all manner of wildlife, including birds and species such as foxes, hedgehogs and deer. WWS’s rescue work is carried out across the whole of the North East and expert advice is provided to thousands of callers every year.

Who Does Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary Help?

They assist the public when they are faced with a wildlife casualty or orphan. The public will contact them when they find an injured animal in need of help. Many of their volunteers come to us to join a community of like minded people, to get close to nature and in turn, volunteering at their centre has helped many struggling with mental health issues. Working with animals and volunteering is a great healer.

How Will The Donation Help Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary?

Whitby wildlife Sanctuary are currently upgrading areas on site, including installing outdoor plug sockets and outdoor lighting, which will improve facilities for their volunteers and their patients.
