Vote for The Disabilities Trust This August and Help Provide Additional Resources to Improve the Lives of Disabled People
The Disabilities Trust is a leading UK charity which works in partnership with others to improve the lives of disabled people. They provide residential and day services across the UK for people with an acquired brain injury, autism, learning or physical disabilities, supporting their independence. Services include hospitals, purpose-built residential accommodation, supported housing and a school.
They have a 40-year established track record of delivering services that meet the needs of people with complex and challenging disabilities.
Disabled people are at the heart of everything they do. They work in partnership with those they support, their families and friends, local authorities, health authorities, housing associations and other organisations.
What Services Do The Disabilities Trust Provide?
Brain Injury
The charity provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation for anyone living with a disability as a result of brain injuries. This includes traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other forms of acquired brain injury. Their goal is to support people in living full, happy lives, and to enjoy their independence as much as they can. In addition, the charity works to develop studies that will help provide further understanding on brain injuries and the consequences of them.
Physical Disability
The Disabilities Trust has over 30 years experience in working with people with physical disabilities. This includes those who live with conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, arthritis and multiple sclerosis; and people who have acquired physical disability through stroke or accidents. They individually assess the needs of every person they work with, and support them through physical care, as well as ensuring that every service user has as much independence and control over their lives as possible. In addition, the charity works to ensure that people are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Autism
The charity also offers individually tailored support to people with autism. Understanding that every case of autism is different, they provide detailed assessments designed by experts to ensure that each person gets the best support possible. Their person centred approach helps service users develop their social, recreational and vocational skills, and supports them in living their lives independently.
