Tackling Homelessness & Rebuilding Lives: How You Can Support Northampton Hope Centre this March 2019

Northampton Hope Centre exists to rebuild the lives of those people who have been or are currently living on the streets of Northampton. They aim to help those most in need, who are suffering from the most prevalent disadvantages. They are often providing support for the marginalised and excluded members of Northampton's community. They do this by providing an opportunity for people to get off the streets and build a future for themselves with support, guidance and care from their expert team of staff and volunteers. This team is fundamental to the charities service, a lot of whom are volunteers from the local area.

By providing support, Northampton Hope Centre strives to give everyone an opportunity to have shelter. They also provide opportunities for homeless people to work as functioning members of society. They do this through the implementation of practical support. They also strive to provide disadvantaged people with the tools necessary to start taking control of their own lives.                                          

The Northampton Hope Centre has been offering support to those living in poverty in Northampton for 45 years this year. Starting as a soup kitchen, the charity now provides a Day Centre with development training and support for people who are currently, have been in the past or are at risk of becoming homeless.                             

Homelessness Statistics in Northampton

An astonishing 60 people every night are sleeping on the streets in Northampton, and the life expectancy of homeless people is just 47. Not only this, but an average of one in four families are forced to skip meal time because of financial difficulties and poverty. Northampton Hope Centre has made it their mission to stop Northampton's poverty in its tracks, and to give everyone the tools that they need to ease, overcome and recover from homelessness.

The charity's Day Centre is packed full of social activities and support services to give people a place where they feel safe. This is extremely important for homeless people who may be feeling lonely, neglected and excluded from social interaction and society. The centre also offers a first point of call for those who find themselves on the streets, with information and support services available for all. They also provide showers, food, clothing and warmth.

It is easy to see the positive impact that this charity has on Northampton’s community, and their passion for inclusion, helpfulness and support is evident. Northampton Hope Centre sees over 100 people every single day and relies  entirely on donations to keep their services going.
