The Psychiatry Research Trust
The Psychiatry Research Trust is a UK registered charity raising funds for research into mental illnesses and brain disease, with the aim of securing better treatment and better understanding the underlying causes. Formed in 1982, the Trust has raised over 6 million pounds which has been used to fund research projects covering a wide spectrum of mental health conditions and brain disease, lectures on all aspects of mental health, bursaries to enable students with mental health issues to study and carry out their own research projects, and the purchase of essential research equipment. The Psychiatry Research Trust carry out extensive study into all aspects of mental illness and brain disorder. This trust creates the researchers of tomorrow to ensure they continue to move forward. Approximately 6% of people over aged 65 and 20% of those over 80 suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. The costs of Alzheimer’s disease are huge, both emotionally and by monetary value with general health costs being £17,000 million per annum. Help the trust gain a greater understanding of Alzheimer’s and mental illnesses as they continue to research and study.
