Shelter Charity Bio

In today’s current economic and social climate, the work done by housing charity Shelter has never been more required. Shelter has been working in the UK since 1966 providing invaluable support and advice as well as raising awareness through its many Shelter campaigns. Shelter started life as a cause that aimed to represent the millions of ‘hidden homeless’ in over-crowded slums, and in the last 50 years, Shelter has celebrated its success such as its influence in the formation and introduction of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. In 2014, 65000 people joined in with one of the many Shelter campaigns and Shelter fundraising initiatives, and with over 4 million requests for help from Shelter last year, there is still so much work to be done by Shelter to combat homelessness in the UK. Shelter provide their expert advice 365 days a year with 80% of Shelter donations going directly to those who need it in the form of this advice, support and Shelter campaigning.

When it comes to using our site, there are two ways in which you can provide Shelter with additional help and funds.
