Help Reduce Baby Deaths & Support Parent’s by Voting for Sands
In the UK, 15 babies a day die before, during or shortly after birth which means every 90 minutes a family experiences this devastating tragedy. Sands (the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) is the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity and we exist to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, work to improve the bereavement care received and to reduce the number of babies dying.
Supporting Bereaved Families
Sands offers a range of bereavement support through our helpline, on-line community, bereavement support packs, memory boxes and nationwide network of over 100 local support groups which are run by trained volunteers called befrienders.
Along with supporting families Sands works with healthcare professionals to ensure families receive the best bereavement care by training healthcare professionals and providing guidance on best practice as we know that the care bereaved families receive is crucial as it can have a huge impact on their long term wellbeing. Good care cannot remove parents’ pain but bad care is likely to exacerbate feelings of pain and grief.
Funding Research into Neonatal Death & Stillbirths
As well as caring for the families, they fund vital research into the causes of neonatal death and stillbirths to understand why babies are dying as currently over half of death are unexplained and to help us reduce the number of babies dying by 20% by 2020.
Vote for Sands, and your support can help more families find the support they need in the darkest of times, as well as help reduce stillbirths and neonatal deaths. Find out more about Sands by visiting https://www.sands.org.uk/.
