Voting for Acorns Children's Hospice
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides care, support, fun and laughter for children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. Founded in 1988, they provide a network of specialist palliative care and support across the heart of England via their specialist doctors, nurses and volunteers.
They offer a variety of services for children and families such as support groups, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy as well as short breaks for families. In the last year alone, they helped over 1,097 families and 876 children ages 0-18, whom require care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are not generally expected to live into adulthood. They also offer support for grieving families and bereaved friends.
There are three hospices which each provide specialist, emergency and palliative care, based in Birmingham, Worcester and Walsall. The cost of their services total up to almost £10 million a year, so all donations are greatly appreciated. Voting for Acorns Children’s Hospice in our November charity poll means that they can continue their vital work in helping children and their families who are affected by life limiting conditions, ensuring they are given all the care they need during their life and the family is supported through bereavement.
