Wightlink Voucher Codes for October 2026

Wightlink's three routes serve different parts of the Isle of Wight, so a cheaper fare is not necessarily better value if it leaves you with a longer drive or awkward onward journey. Portsmouth–Fishbourne is the main vehicle route for East and Central Wight, Lymington–Yarmouth can make more sense for West Wight, while Portsmouth Harbour–Ryde is the FastCat route for foot passengers.

Vehicle fares are also demand-led. Wightlink says prices are affected by the date, time, duration of stay and vehicle size, and that booking earlier or being flexible about sailing times can help you pay less. Before applying a Wightlink discount code, check an earlier or later crossing as well. A different departure time can sometimes change the underlying fare before any promotion is applied.

Ways to pay less for a Wightlink crossing

A voucher is only one of the saving routes available. Depending on how you are travelling, one of Wightlink's passenger, membership or partner schemes may fit the journey better.

• Compare sailing times: vehicle pricing can rise or fall with demand, so check nearby departures rather than assuming the first time shown is the lowest fare.
• Tesco Clubcard: 50p of Clubcard vouchers currently converts to £1 to spend with Wightlink. Reward Partner Codes can be used on full-price Economy and Standard tickets but not with another discounted or promotional fare.
• Railcards: eligible Railcard holders can save up to a third on foot passenger ferry travel when the ferry is booked as part of a rail journey through a train-ticket provider.
• Students: Wightlink offers discounted foot passenger tickets for students aged 16+ who can show accepted student identification.
• Blue Light Card: eligible members currently receive 10% off car, motorcycle and foot passenger bookings through the Blue Light Card route.
• Defence Discount Service: eligible members currently receive 10% off car, motorcycle and foot passenger ferry travel.
• Blue Badge and accessible travel: qualifying travellers can receive reduced vehicle and foot passenger fares, with the exact saving depending on the ticket type and eligibility.
• MyLink: Isle of Wight residents can access reduced foot passenger prices and other member benefits.
• Kids Go Free: Wightlink runs school-holiday promotions where up to two children aged 5–15 can travel free with each qualifying adult or senior foot passenger day return ticket. Under-fives already travel free.
• Pets: dogs, cats and other small pets travel free on Wightlink services.

The best option depends on the journey. A general Wightlink promo code may suit a vehicle booking, while Clubcard, Railcard, MyLink or an eligibility fare can be stronger for a particular passenger. Check the restrictions before deciding which route to use because several of these discounts cannot be combined.

The Portsmouth–Fishbourne ETS levy can change the real saving

Vehicle bookings on the Portsmouth–Fishbourne route now carry a separate UK Emissions Trading Scheme levy for each leg of the journey. This is important because the levy still forms part of the final crossing cost even when the fare itself has been discounted.

Wightlink currently lists the levy at:

• £1.25 per leg for motorcycles and scooters;
• £1.50 per leg for cars under five metres long;
• £1.75 per leg for vehicles five metres or longer, including motorhomes, coaches and horse boxes.

For example, if an eligible return vehicle fare is £100 and a promotion reduces the fare by 20%, the fare itself falls to £80. A car under five metres would then have a £1.50 levy added in each direction, making the total £83 before any optional extras. That is why the final checkout figure matters more than simply calculating the percentage reduction.

The levy applies specifically to vehicle travel on Portsmouth–Fishbourne. Foot passengers do not pay it, and changing a booking from Lymington–Yarmouth to Portsmouth–Fishbourne can cause the levy to be added.

Economy or Standard: when the cheapest Wightlink fare can cost more later

Economy is Wightlink's lower-priced ticket type, but it comes with much less flexibility. Economy tickets are non-refundable and currently cost £15 to amend online or £25 through the Contact Centre or at the port, plus any increase in the new fare.

Standard tickets cost more initially but can be amended without an amendment fee. Wightlink also allows a Standard ticket to be cancelled more than 24 hours before the outward sailing for a refund subject to a £5 cancellation fee. Tesco Clubcard-paid tickets have separate refund conditions.

If your travel date is fixed, an Economy ticket plus a suitable Wightlink voucher code may still produce the lower total. If there is a realistic chance that you will need to move the sailing, the Standard fare can be better value once potential amendment charges are taken into account.

There is also a useful safety net immediately after booking: Wightlink says errors on a direct online booking can be corrected online within the first hour without an amendment fee. After that, the normal ticket conditions apply.

Ask your Isle of Wight accommodation provider for a ferry price

If you are booking a hotel, B&B, cottage, holiday park or self-catering stay on the Isle of Wight, ask the accommodation provider about ferry travel before paying Wightlink separately. Wightlink operates an accommodation-partner scheme that allows participating businesses to offer preferential ferry prices to their guests.

This is one of the most useful comparisons because an accommodation-linked fare can be a completely different route to saving from the public Wightlink discount codes shown above. Do not assume the voucher is automatically cheaper. Ask for the accommodation ferry price, then compare the same route, dates, passengers and vehicle details with the public Wightlink booking.

If the provider does not participate, you have lost nothing by asking. If it does, you have another genuine price to compare before committing to the crossing.

Tesco Clubcard can be strong, but compare the full-price fare first

Wightlink accepts Tesco Clubcard Reward Partner Codes on full-price Economy and Standard tickets. The current exchange rate gives £1 of Wightlink value for every 50p of Clubcard vouchers.

There is an important restriction: Clubcard Reward Partner Codes cannot be used with another discounted offer or promotional fare. That means you should compare the full-price Clubcard booking with the best promotional fare rather than assuming you can apply both.

There is another small trap to avoid. Wightlink gives no change on unused Reward Partner Code value, so exchange an amount that is reasonably close to the booking cost rather than converting more Clubcard value than you are likely to use.

Wightlink savings for students, Blue Light members and accessible travel

Different passenger groups have their own saving routes, and these are worth checking before relying on a general Wightlink promo code.

Student fares

Wightlink offers discounted foot passenger fares for students aged over 16. Accepted evidence includes Student Rider, ISIC, TOTUM, UNiDAYS or a suitable photo student ID, subject to Wightlink's current verification rules. This is a passenger fare rather than a universal vehicle discount.

Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Service

Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Service members can currently access 10% off qualifying car, motorcycle and foot passenger bookings. These discounts are accessed through the relevant membership service rather than by searching for a public voucher token.

Blue Badge and disability discounts

Wightlink offers discounted fares to qualifying travellers with a Blue Badge, ENCTS Card, Disabled Persons Railcard or Access Card. Current vehicle savings include 20% off Standard vehicle tickets and 15% off Economy vehicle tickets for qualifying personal leisure vehicles. Foot passenger eligibility can also include a free companion where support is required.

Wightlink states that the Blue Badge discount cannot be combined with another offer or promotion, so compare it with the public fare before booking rather than expecting two reductions to stack.

NHS appointment travel is different from an NHS staff discount

Wightlink's NHS saving is specifically designed for eligible Isle of Wight residents travelling to the mainland for an NHS-funded hospital or NHS dental appointment. It should not be confused with a general staff discount.

Eligible foot passengers can currently receive 50% off, while vehicle travel is discounted by 50% or capped at £35 per single crossing, depending on which produces the lower eligible fare. The patient can normally travel with one other person; where the patient is a child, two parents can accompany them.

The booking needs to be arranged through Wightlink's Assisted Travel service and proof of the appointment is required at check-in. The discount cannot be combined with another promotion, and the Portsmouth–Fishbourne ETS levy still applies to qualifying vehicle bookings.

MyLink can reduce foot passenger costs for Isle of Wight residents

If you live on the Isle of Wight and regularly travel as a foot passenger, MyLink is worth checking before each booking. Membership gives access to reduced foot passenger fares and a 15% discount on standard 12oz hot drinks.

The MyLink saving is applied automatically when an eligible member is logged into their Wightlink account. Current prices vary between peak and off-peak periods and by passenger type, including adults, children, students, seniors and families.

This is another example where a resident fare may be more useful than a general Wightlink discount code. Compare the member price first rather than assuming that a public promotion will produce the lowest fare.

Travelling with children, pets or a Railcard can change the cost

Not every saving needs a voucher.

Wightlink's current school-holiday Kids Go Free offer allows up to two children aged 5–15 to travel free with every qualifying adult or senior foot passenger day return ticket during the specified promotional periods. Children under five travel free as standard.

Pets also travel free across Wightlink's services. You should still add your pet when booking online and follow the onboard pet rules, but there is no separate pet fare to factor into the crossing price.

For foot passengers combining ferry and rail travel, an eligible Railcard can reduce the ferry element by up to a third when the journey is booked through a rail-ticket provider. That can be more useful than booking the ferry separately and then looking for a promotion afterwards.

Do not waste a one-use Wightlink promotion code

This is one checkout detail worth knowing before you experiment with a Wightlink promotion. Wightlink warns on some code-based schemes that a code can be marked as used as soon as it is entered at checkout. If that applies to the promotion you have been issued, testing it on a dummy booking could leave you unable to use it on the journey you actually want.

Build the correct booking first: route, sailing time, passengers, vehicle and any extras. Only enter a one-use promotion when you are ready to complete that booking.

Also check the terms if the booking page says a sailing is unavailable. Wightlink notes that special-offer dates can be excluded and that some advance ticket types may sell out even when the ferry itself still has availability.
