Who are Air Ambulances UK?

Air Ambulances UK (AAUK) is the national charity supporting the lifesaving work of the UK’s air ambulance charities, enabling them to save even more lives every day.

AAUK provide vital national funding to air ambulance charities across the UK, increasing awareness of their lifesaving work, spreading awareness of the service, allowing advancements in patient care, providing a collective voice and sharing information and knowledge across the air ambulance sector.

Air Ambulances UK enable the UK’s air ambulance charities to save more lives every day by providing pre-hospital care and helping to improve patient outcomes to those who have suffered a life-threatening injury or medical emergency.

What Does Air Ambulances UK Do?

AAUK raises national funds to invest in the air ambulance community. Their mission is to make sure that there is the greatest possible chance of survival and the best outcome for the patient and everyone in need of lifesaving pre-hospital care.

On average an air ambulance can reach someone in urgent need within 15 minutes. Air ambulance charities attend over 102* lifesaving missions each day across the UK which is over 37,000* missions every year. Each lifesaving mission by air costs on average £3,962** and is funded almost entirely by donations from generous people like yourselves! That’s why we simply can’t save lives without people like you. This is why Air Ambulances UK is calling on our users all over the UK to support their local air ambulance to ensure air ambulance charities continue to save lives every day.

What Campaigns are Air Ambulances UK involved in?

During the first week of September every year Air Ambulances UK and the air ambulance community celebrate Air Ambulance Week. This year Air Ambulance Week takes place on 4th – 10th September.

Who does Air Ambulances UK help?

Anyone, anywhere in the UK can become a patient at any time. Air ambulance crews respond to the seriously ill and injured patients such as those who have been in road traffic collisions, industrial incidents, injuries at sporting events and stabbings, injuries in the home or workplace as well as medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests or strokes. Air ambulance crews bring the hospital to the patient with specialist equipment and training, meaning they are able to treat patients at the scene of the incident. These pre-hospital interventions mean that air ambulances help to make a lifesaving difference and have a significant impact on the patient outcomes.

How Will the Donation Help Air Ambulances UK?

Your donation will go towards making a lifesaving difference to people across the UK. As the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities receive no day-to-day government funding they depend almost

entirely on charitable donations to deliver lifesaving care in local communities. Your donation will make a difference!
