Introducing the first of our incredible March charities! This March, Positively UK, a charity dedicated to protecting the health and wellbeing of people living with HIV, have been chosen as one of the charities included in the My Favourite Voucher Codes Charity Poll. Who is Positively UK?

Living with HIV can be an isolating experience, often accompanied by stigma and discrimination. Many individuals living with HIV spend their time isolated, feeling self-stigmatised and unprepared to face the reality of living with HIV. The stigma associated with HIV significantly impacts the health and wellbeing of those living with HIV. Shockingly, 87% of people living with HIV have not shared their status with most people in their lives and 45% feel ashamed of their status.1

In response to the enduring challenges of stigma and isolation faced by those living with HIV, Positively UK was founded in 1987 by two women living with HIV, Sheila and Jayne. Almost 40 years later, the charity remains committed to its mission. As the only HIV charity led by individuals living with HIV, they continue to address the ongoing issues surrounding HIV and provide a supportive community for their service users.

What Services do Positively UK Provide?

Positively UK is dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals living with HIV by providing a range of tailored services. These include one-to-one peer support sessions, monthly support groups, specialist welfare services, and hosting the biannual National Conference for People Living with HIV.

As a charity founded and led by people living with HIV, Positively UK is committed to empowering, supporting, and advocating for the HIV community. Over nearly four decades, they have made significant strides in combating stigma, fostering peer connections, and promoting holistic well-being. Their mission is to ensure that everyone living with HIV has access to the support, resources, and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling and dignified lives.

How Will the Donation Help Positively UK?

The funds from my Favourite Voucher Codes will directly support Positively UK’s essential services aimed at improving the lives of people living with HIV. Funds will directly support their currently underfunded group sessions: The Gay Men’s Group and The Youth Project. Groups like these allow people living with HIV to make connections and have access to accurate information, resources and support networks. With this donation, this incredible charity would be able to continue empowering individuals, challenging stigma and advocating for better care and support for all those living with HIV.
