How Your Vote for Pause Can Help Create Space for Change
Pause is taking part in the My Favourite Voucher Codes August charity poll, and your vote could help them win a donation to support their vital work. Pause is a national charity that works to improve the lives of women who have had, or are at risk of having, more than one child removed from their care, and the services and systems that affect them.
Pause is one of the August charities competing in the poll this month in the hopes of winning 20% of our monthly net profits! Find out more about this incredible charity below, and see why they need your votes.

What does Pause do?
Every child has the right to a safe, secure and loving home. However, this can’t always happen. The number of children entering care each year remains at a record high, and a significant number of these children are removed from parents who have previously had a child a removed into care.
Many families experience the removal of a child into care and receive little support afterwards. While services and support often follow the child, parents can be left to cope with the trauma of removal alongside existing challenges in their lives. Without support, some families can become trapped in a cycle of repeat pregnancies, care proceedings and further removals.
Pause was founded to provide a different approach for women who had experienced, or were at risk of experiencing, repeated removals of children into care. Their aim is to support women to build safer, more stable lives, while contributing to longer-term change so that fewer families experience repeat removals of children into care.
What services does Pause provide?
Pause works towards this aim in several connected ways:
· They offer intensive, relationship-based support through their core and REACH programmes, working alongside women over time to help them build stability and make positive changes in their lives.
· They influence and partner with services and systems to improve the support available to women and families affected by the removal of children into care.
· They ensure women’s voices help shape their work, including through involvement activity, campaigns, reports and creative projects.
What impact does Pause have?
Pause’s approach is based on trusting relationships, trauma-informed practice and support that is shaped around each woman’s circumstances. Women working with Pause are supported to build stability and make positive changes across different areas of their lives, including wellbeing, relationships, confidence and self-esteem.
Crucially, women tell Pause that the work makes a difference.
“I have four children in care of family members. For my eldest two, I never received any aftercare [after they were removed] and I started drinking and self-harming and went down a dark road. Then I had my third child and, again I had no aftercare, so again I started drinking and went back down the dark road. Then I had my
fourth child and this time I’ve had aftercare from Pause. They really helped me stay off that dark road” – Woman working with Pause
How will the donation help Pause?
