About Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary
Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary is a UK based rescue which cares for animals who have faced neglect, abandonment, or poor living conditions.
Many of these animals arrive in difficult shape, in need of support, care and a place to call home. Some are underweight. Some need urgent treatment. Others show fear from past handling. Their amazing team works with each animal over time, and helps them to thrive. They build trust. They improve health. They provide stability.
Most animals stay at Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary, having sanctuary for life. This includes older animals and those with ongoing medical needs. This approach increases long term costs, but ensures every animal stays safe.
Their Story
Brook Farm began with a clear aim: to provide a safe place for animals with nowhere else to go.
From the start, the sanctuary focused on rescue. Many of the animals they take in come from difficult situations including instances of neglect, poor treatment, or cases where owners could no longer care for them. Over the years, they have handled many serious cruelty cases, especially involving farm animals.
BFAS is a family run sanctuary. It became a registered charity in 2008 and continues to operate as an independent organisation. The team is made up of volunteers, which means every part of the work depends on time, effort, and public support.
The sanctuary is based on a simple belief. Every animal matters. Each one receives care, attention, and respect, whether it is a cow, pig, sheep, dog, or cat. The team treats every animal
as an individual, with their own experiences, feelings and personalities. Some are shy. Some are more confident. Some take longer to adjust. All receive the same level of care.
Daily life at BFAS centres on long term care. Many animals stay for the rest of their lives. The goal is not quick rehoming. The goal is safety, stability, and proper treatment. This includes feeding, cleaning, health checks, and ongoing support for animals with medical needs.
The sanctuary runs on a 10 acre site in Northamptonshire. Every part of this space is used to house and support the animals. Feed, bedding, and veterinary care all come at a cost, and the charity relies fully on donations to continue its work. There is no secure funding in place.
One thing that stood out to me when reading their story is the emotional side of their work. The team forms strong bonds with the animals they rescue. They care for them over many years. They see them recover, settle, and live in a safe environment.
This is not short term work. It is a long term commitment to every animal that arrives at the sanctuary.
What They Do Each Day
Running a sanctuary involves constant work. Brook Farm provides:
Rescue and intake: They respond to cases where animals face risk or neglect, rescuing them and caring for them either until they can be rehomed or for the rest of their lives.
Veterinary care: They arrange treatment, monitor health, and manage long term conditions.
Feeding and housing: Each animal receives proper food and a suitable, secure living space.
Daily welfare: Cleaning, mucking out, health checks, feeding and general care is paramount for the animals in their care.
End of life care: Animals stay in comfort and safety for the rest of their lives.
This level of care requires time, staff, and steady funding.
Where Your Vote Makes an Impact
If Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary wins our May poll, they will receive 20 percent of our monthly profits.
This funding supports:
● Feed and nutrition: Hay, grains, and specialist diets
● Veterinary costs: Routine care and emergency treatment
● Shelter maintenance: Repairs, fencing, and bedding
● Daily operations: Water, electricity, and running costs
From my position, I look at how donations are used. In this case, funding goes straight into daily care. There is a clear link between support and impact, meaning that your 1 free vote can go far in helping the animals at Brook Farm.

This approach deserves support.
