All About Cerebral Palsy Scotland
Cerebral Palsy Scotland cares for people with cerebral palsy throughout their lives, and is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to this cause. The charity, based in Glasgow and supporting people across Scotland, offers expert therapy, practical support and somewhere for families to come when they need help.
This incredible charity also campaigns to increase understanding of cerebral palsy and ensure that people's voices are heard..
No two people are the same with cerebral palsy and that is why the charity focuses on the individual rather than having a one size fits all attitude. Cerebral Palsy Scotland works directly with individuals and families to understand their needs, identify their goals and provide support that makes a meaningful difference to everyday life.
What Services Does Cerebral Palsy Scotland Provide?
Cerebral Palsy Scotland provides a number of services that can help adults, children and their families. They are:

- Speech and language therapy: Support for communication, eating, drinking and swallowing. This can also include development in communication skills through assistive technology and communications aides.Â
- Occupational therapy: Helping with practical life skills such as dressing, cooking, handwriting, and school or work. Occupational therapy focuses on developing skills, identifying adaptations and supporting independence.
- Psychological assistance: Specialist psychological input to support the emotional wellbeing of children and adults with cerebral palsy and their families, helping them navigate challenges and build confidence and resilience.
- Intensive therapy: Specific programmes which combine various therapeutic approaches to help individuals achieve specific goals. These programmes focus on individual goals and can help people develop skills, improve function and build confidence in everyday activities.
- Baby Buds: An early intervention group for babies with cerebral palsy or those at risk of developing the condition, and their parents or carers. Baby Buds provides opportunities for babies to play, move and explore in a supportive environment, while families receive specialist guidance and connect with others.
