Vote for Wood Street Mission: Helping Kids in Manchester and Salford Since 1869
As the Charities Coordinator here at My Favourite Voucher Codes, I have the job of picking four charities to compete in our poll. We take 20% of our monthly profits and donate it to the one you choose. It’s as simple as that. This May, I’ve included Wood Street Mission, and I think it’s important you know why they’re on the list.
Wood Street Mission is a Manchester and Salford charity, working to help local families who are in need of support. They’ve been around for 156 years, which is a massive achievement for any independent charity. They focus on helping local kids and families who are living on low incomes by providing the stuff most of us take for granted—things like clean clothes, bedding, baby gear, and books.
This May, you can help Wood Street Mission by voting in this months charity poll! Your free vote can support their incredible work, and you can find out more about their services below. See how you can help them to help others, without spending a penny.

Who is Wood Street Mission?
You might not know this, but Wood Street Mission is a bit of a Manchester legend. They’ve been helping kids and families in Manchester and Salford since 1869. That makes them 156 years old this year. They’ve seen it all, and they’re still standing, helping families who are struggling just to get through the day.
They’re a totally independent charity. They don’t have a massive government safety net to fall back on. Instead, they rely on people like us to keep their programs running. They focus on children living on low incomes, making sure these kids have what they need to actually be kids.
What They Do on the Ground
I love their approach because it isn't about red tape or long wait times. It’s about getting stuff to people who need it.
● The Basics: Think about clothes, bedding, and baby gear. These things cost a fortune when you’re on a tight budget. Wood Street gives these out for free. They also include toys and books, because kids need to play and learn, not just survive.
● School Help: Their "SmartStart" program is a lifesaver. It helps parents pay for uniforms and school kits. No kid should feel like an outsider on their first day of school just because they don’t have the right blazer.
● Reading: They take "Book Roadshows" into local schools. They literally hand out books to children who might not own a single one at home. It’s a simple way to help a child do better in school and beyond.
● Christmas: They make sure thousands of local children actually have presents to open on Christmas morning. It’s about making sure the holidays don't become a source of dread for parents who can't afford gifts.
Every service they offer is free. Families get a referral, and Wood Street steps in to help.
No Catch, No Cost, No Forms
I hate it when "free" things come with a catch. This doesn’t.
Voting is 100% free. You don’t have to sign up for anything. You don’t have to give us your email address or your name. You just click a button and you're done!
It takes about five seconds and can make a huge difference to families and children in need.
The poll is open from 1st May until the end of the day on 31st May 2026.

Vote Today to Help Families in Need
Look, if you've got a spare second —just go cast a vote for Wood Street Mission. It won't cost you a penny, and it's easy to do. But those few clicks? They might actually be the reason some kid in Manchester or Salford walks into school with a proper kit this year instead of feeling like the odd one out. Thank you.
