Who are Nottingham Hospitals Charity?
Nottingham Hospitals Charity is the charitable organisation of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which supports Queen's Medical Centre, City Hospital, Nottingham Children's Hospital, Ropewalk House and the National Rehabilitation Centre.
The Trust is the fifth largest and busiest NHS organisation in the country, employing over 19,000 NHS staff and providing care to millions of patients and families every year.
The charity improves the experience of care for patients, families, carers and NHS staff by funding initiatives that complement and enhance the delivery of NHS care, such as exciting improvements to hospital environments; cutting edge medical technology, pioneering research and innovation and wellbeing programmes.
Since 2006, supporters have raised more than ÂŁ65 million for NHS hospitals in Nottingham, improving care through innovative initiatives, as well as the little things that make hospital stays more comfortable, caring and helpful for the most vulnerable members of our communities.
The Impact of Nottingham Hospitals Charity
There are many ways in which Nottingham Hospitals Charity helps to support children and young people with their hospital visits. The experience of being in hospital can be unsettling, tiring and stressful for children and their families.
One such service is the specialist complementary therapy service at Nottingham Children's Hospital, which is operated by Ginny.
The service provides young patients with a tranquil, friendly environment away from the ward where therapies including massage and relaxation techniques can reduce distress and improve wellbeing.Â
Support groups with Ginny provide reassurance and comfort during some of the most difficult times of young peoples' lives.
This is just one incredible way in which Nottingham Hospitals Charity has been able to improve the experience of patients outside of the clinical side of things.
The Difference This Donation Could Make...
If Nottingham Hospitals Charity is the winning charity for November, 20% of our profits for this month will be donated to this fantastic charity. The donation could be used to support projects that make an impact in Nottingham's NHS Hospitals. For example:
- ÂŁ15 could fund a care bag for a patient or family member admitted to hospital unexpectedly. These care bags are filled with essentials, toiletries and comfort items that support people during a particularly stressful time.
- ÂŁ150 could enable the running of a weekly youth club for 25 young people, providing support and opportunities to make friends, gain confidence and develop peer networks.
- ÂŁ400 can allow a child at Nottingham Children's Hospital to receive 10 weeks of complementary therapy to help ease their anxiety, improve their wellbeing and support them during treatment.
Whether it's directly caring for our patients, supporting our wellbeing programmes or improving our hospital environments, each donation helps create a better experience for those who use Nottingham's NHS Hospitals.
