If you’re new to how we do things here at My Favourite Voucher Codes, our charity poll is super simple. Every month, we feature four charities in our line-up, and our users can vote for their favourite, completely free. At the end of the month, the charity with the most votes wins 20% of our profits - easy! Every purchase you make through us goes towards the charity donation, so by shopping with our codes and offers you’ll instantly be helping good causes without spending a single penny more!
But before we meet our September line-up, who came out tops in our August poll? Well, after an exciting month, we’re pleased to announce that the winners for August are Action For M.E who came in first place with 52% of the final vote! Congratulations to Action For M.E. and a huge thank you to all of our August charity partners for taking part. We’ll be announcing how much we’ll be donating to August’s winner in December, so make sure you stay tuned!
You may also remember that earlier in August, we announced the donation amount for Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home (CDCH), who were our winners back in April. Thanks to you amazing people, we donated £197.43. According to CDCH’s Fundraising Manager, Jane, our donation will be able to cover the cost of 40 worm, flea and tick treatments for the animals in their care. Of course, we couldn’t have done it without the help of our lovely users, so please keep using our codes so that we can continue helping more wonderful charities.
September’s Charity Poll Lineup
It’s now time to meet our fantastic four for September! If you would like to find out more about each charity, you can click through to their bio pages, where you’ll also find a link to their websites if you’d like to support them further.
Off The Fence
Off The Fence are based in Brighton and Hove, and they work to support some of the most vulnerable people in the area. They do this through a number of different projects including a day centre for the homeless, school programmes for 6-18 year olds, and a centre for women in crisis. Ultimately, their mission is to end poverty and to bring hope and empowerment to vulnerable people in Brighton and Hove. September also marks National Hygiene Week, and we’ve teamed up with Off The Fence this month to support their Hygiene 4 All project, which provides a mobile shower and laundry van for rough sleepers in the area.
RoadPeace
RoadPeace is a UK charity that supports road crash victims and their families. They provide emotional support to those who have been injured or bereaved as a result of road crashes, as well as campaigning for safer roads. They also work to make sure that road crash victims are awarded with the right compensation by providing specialist support and campaigning for justice. In addition, the charity also wants to make sure that those who have lost their lives on the road are remembered, and this is done through their annual Ceremony of Remembrance. This is the second year that RoadPeace are featuring in our charity poll, following on from them taking part in August 2019.
Sepsis Research (FEAT)
September is World Sepsis Month, with World Sepsis Day on the 13th September, and that’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with Sepsis Research. The charity is the UK’s only organisation that funds research into sepsis, a life threatening condition that is the number one cause of preventable death in the world. Overall, their mission is to put a stop to sepsis, and they do this not only by funding research projects, but also by raising awareness of the condition in general. Through raising awareness, more people will be aware of the symptoms meaning that they can seek treatment sooner, improving chances of recovery and saving lives. Currently, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the charity are also supporting the fight against the covid-19 in order to learn more about it and how the spread can be prevented.
Weston Hospicecare
Last but most certainly not least, we have Weston Hospicecare completing our September lineup. The charity provides expert and compassionate care to those with life limiting illnesses in Weston-super-Mare, Sedgemoor and North Somerset. As patients approach the end of life, the charity works to improve quality of life by providing physical, emotional, spiritual and mental support. Weston Hospicecare provides a number of services designed to support the needs of patients and their families, including an inpatient unit, a team of community nurses, a day-hospice service. Every year, their services care for around 1000 people, while their family support team is there for these patients’ loved ones. It costs over £4.2 million a year to run the hospice, and only 20% of this is provided by the government. This means that the charity need to raise £11,000 per day to make up the additional funds they need.
