Meet Our Four New Charities for April 2020 with the Latest Charity Poll!
There’s an awful lot of bad news going on in the world right now, and here at My Favourite Voucher Codes we want to cheer you up by bringing you a little good news. As today marks the start of a brand new month, that means we get to announce the winner of our March charity poll. March was the first month where we involved four charities rather than our usual three, and we’ve seen some pretty close competition throughout, so a huge thank you to everyone who voted. We’re delighted to announce that the winner of our March poll is the fantastic Citizens Advice Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole, with 35% of the final vote! A huge thank you to all four charities and their teams for their hard work promoting the poll this month. Keep in the loop with our blog, as we’ll be announcing the donation amount for this amazing cause in July.
At the beginning of March, we also announced the final donation amount for SiMBA, who were our poll winners for November. Thanks to you lovely folk, we raised £133.44 for this wonderful charity. SiMBA provide support for anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby. They do this through donating bespoke memory boxes to hospitals across the UK, along with refurbishing family rooms and providing bereavement support. Keep shopping using our voucher codes and you’ll be helping us to raise money for even more amazing causes!
Our April Charity Poll
Our brand new April poll launches today, with four more amazing charities competing for your votes. After a difficult month for us all, we want to encourage everyone to spread a little kindness. What better way than by casting your vote for your chosen charity? Not sure who to vote for? Let’s meet them!
Autism Berkshire
First up we have Autism Berkshire, who regular users will remember from our poll back in February 2019. The charity aims to provide support to autistic children, young people and adults and works to improve services in Berkshire. Their aim is to provide those with autism a better quality of life and to help them gain independence and confidence. The charity offer social and leisure activities, along with training and support for autistic people and their families. In addition, Autism Berkshire work to raise awareness of autism within the community to help promote better understanding of the condition. You may remember Autism Berkshire were the winners of our February 2019 charity poll, winning £139.22. The 2nd April is World Autism Awareness Day, which is why we're delighted to have them involved again this year!
Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home
Next up, we have the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home. The charity is run by South Cotswolds RSPCA and for over 80 years has been rescuing and rehoming animals in the Gloucestershire area. Every year, their rescue centre takes in over 250 animals who have been abused, neglected or abandoned along with finding them new homes with loving families. In addition, CDCH works to help animals who are found injured, and provide a low cost veterinary service so disadvantaged members of the community are able to gain access to healthcare for their pets. As April is National Pet Month, we’re so excited to have the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home on board with us!
DSActive
Our next charity is DSActive, a project that’s run by the Down’s Syndrome Association. DSActive provides a whole range of sports opportunities for people with Down’s syndrome in order for them to keep healthy and active. Working with over 80 different sporting clubs, the project provides mixed disability sessions as well as impairment specific activities. They also work within the fitness industry to help them improve services and activities for people with Down’s syndrome, as well as provide expert training on the condition. This in turn means professionals can adapt sessions to fit the needs of someone with the condition.
Gul Outdoor Therapy
Last but not least, we have Gul Outdoor Therapy. A small charity based in Wiltshire, Gul provides therapeutic activities in outdoor settings. One of their main forms of therapy is their Equine Assisted Therapy, which allows individuals to improve their wellbeing through horse based activities. In addition they provide outdoor education and apprenticeships that allow people to develop horticultural skills. They help people of all ages who live with mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties, not only through outdoor activities, but also with the help of professional therapists. Gul’s unique service is there to provide their clients with a safe environment for them to explore their thoughts and feelings, and in turn this leads to increased confidence and self esteem. The charity currently is in need of funding for their Equine Assisted Therapy project, and we're delighted to have them on board this April!
